A 6-month-old from Hawaii was mauled to death Monday by her family's pit bull.
Layla Tsuda, who said she was with the girl, told KHON-TV that the baby was playing in a baby walker inside their home in northwest Las Vegas valley when she was attacked.
Tsuda reportedly went to the bathroom and when she came back she found the dog mauling the girl. Tsuda was able to stop the attack, but the baby already suffered major injuries, according to KTNV.
The child was rushed to the hospital where she died.

The Breed of Peace strikes again!
Owing a pit bull is a passive-aggressive way for cowards to express hostility towards their neighbors. The pitbull incident in our neighborhood involved the notorious jail-bait family two streets over. That family had a fight with everyone they encountered, and were frequently drunk and disorderly (this was a dense city neighborhood), with many police visits to their house.
One day their pugnacious teenager took their pitbull into the children's playground in the public park, carried the pitbull up the 7-foot sliding board ladder and pushed the dog from the top down the slide. When the dog got to the bottom and fell off, he immediately jumped up and ran to the nearest 3-year-old sitting on a bench with her nanny and bit the child in the spinal column.
I see what you did there.
Excellent links. Here is a chart from DogsBite.org:
I should note that the chart in post 64 refers to dogbite fatalities. Not just nips.
I agree.
Than you. He is doing as well as can be expected. The pit bull owners wanted to return the dog back to the people who they got him from but they do not want to take him back.
When we were kids out collies would herd us back into the yard if we got anywhere near the street.
The pit needs to be euthanized. He’s done enough damage already.
That’s terrible. I hope the dog was put down.
It was the child of a single mom, too. But we raised some money for her and we got the park to post signs prohibiting dogs in any area, but especially in the kid’s playlot section. This happened some years ago and I don’t know what happened to the dog, but I heard of no further dog incidents with the Wack-a-doo familiy.
