Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. quickly showed up in stories speculating about possible replacements for fired FBI director James Comey.
A Reuters story noted that both Clarke and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani campaigned for Trump, but added: Both men would be seen as highly political nominees for an agency designed to be independent.
Three words: Sheriff. David. Clarke, tweeted conservative commentator John Podhoretz.

You must have just crawled out from under a rock then
He is the best possible choice. Sheriff Joe is too old.
“I like him, but not even close to a chance.”
Yep. That guy is better suited to head of deportations.
Comey was a U.S. Attorney, VP Lockheed Martin, and a Deputy Attorney General. Law degree University of Chicago.
Clarke is the Milwaukee County Sheriff. Experienced lawman, but only a bachelor degree in Management of Criminal Justice. I’m sure he has a lot of self-taught knowledge of law. Cloud hanging over his department right now, due to an inmate death, which the coroner ruled was a homicide, death by dehydration. There are claims water was withheld from prisoner for six days. Probably wouldn’t be the best idea for FBI director til that gets cleared up. Lots of dirty politics up there. Police chief hates him.
Right. Clarke has decades of law enforcement experience. Comey was just a political appointee in the justice department.
I happen to think David Clarke is great. But the Senate isn’t going to confirm him, with the investigation going on in his department.
Good Pick!! He will go after Hillary!!!
Milwaukee has a higher Murder Rate than Chicago.
Yeah, but naming Sheriff Joe would be so worth it just to see the media absolutely $hit themselves.
Mine too.
I hate race picks
But I like him a lot
Good choice too
If his jailers purposely allowed prisoners to die of thirst he needs to answer for that or make the jailers
If he’s doing the blue walll of silence over it then EFF HIM
and I like him
Wardaddy bad.
That's astounding, given the massive amount of bad news we hear out of Chicago, versus hearing almost nothing about Milwaukee...
LOL!
Non partisan? You are aware that’s it’s in the executive branch and is not an independent entity, aren’t you? And their policies and investigative priorities should reflect the administration’s. Also they are not some national internal affairs directed to closely watch the presidency. They are not a check on the white house. Period.
Coney had zero law enforcement experience
