Good. Maybe now we can be done with that “intent” nonsense that has been starting to catch on.
I was only 22 when Nixon resigned - too young to have voted for him - but I thought at the time and still believe to this day that his resignation was a horrible mistake.
His assessment that he could no longer effectively lead, and his desire to heal the nation were no doubt heartfelt and sincere, but in reality it was nothing but a Republican capitulation to the fake news of the day.
All the more after watching the Democrat Rapist in Chief shamelessly purger himself and refuse to resign 24 years later under circumstances that were NOT fake news.
Then I witnessed the 2012 Benghazi cover up in which a Democrat POTUS and SOS, for political expediency, failed to respond to a terrorist attack on our embassy in order to keep a foriegn policy embarrassment out of the election-eve news.
This cowardly and selfish act resulted in the deaths of our ambassador and others, and the same media that relentlessly pursued Nixon over a nothingburger actually facilitated Obama and Clinton in their disgusting cover-up.
Some said that Nixon would have faced impeachment or worse if he had not chosen to resign, but I am not so sure....after watching Trump deal with an even more rabid media - I think Nixon should have fought back - but I guess we’ll never know.
Either way, I am so greatful that Trump appears to have learned the real lesson of Watergate:
The leftist mainstream media dominates the news - they get to decide what is a scandal and what is not - all calls for special prosecutors against Republicans, or for the impeachment or resignation of Republicans are spurious and entirely political - they should be laughed off or totally ignored.
