Stupid hippies.
Song sucks too.
Actually when Plant sounds better than when he was doing his Janis Joplin imitation.
Looks at some of The Who songs that weren’t considered good enough for their albums: like “Water” or “I Don’t Even Know Myself”. Their rejects are better than most bands’ prime material.

Songwriting and longevity...The Who wins hands down, IMHO.
I thought Zep’s first album was amazing, the second only slightly less so. After that each album had progressively less I wanted to listen to until they finally became the epitomy of bloated, pretentious late 70s rock. At least IMHO. Plant singing about Gollum stealing his girl in Mordor was the end for me.
Slip Kid.
Saw the Physical Graffiti and Presence tours at Madison Square Garden. Two of the best concerts I ever attended.
“Jimmy Page replaced Jeff Beck in the Yardbirds in 1968.”
But Jeff can play circles around Jimmy!
Nor can or could he sing any country music, a la Alison Krauss tour. Trying to sing “One Woman Man” and instead sounding like some wussie wrinkled dude, just did not cut it (laughable, really). Then Buddy Miller took over and showed him how. But, in all truth only George Jones could handle that classic from Johnny Horton.
Am not excited by the prospect of a mega price tour of people who should just help younger artists up. Must be the EU bills they owe and/or UK property/inland revenue taxes they owe.

Slip kid, slip kid, second generation
And I’m a soldier at thirteen
I know I mixed my timeline up, Ramblin’ On was an early song, but still, talk about dumb lyrics. A foretaste of what was to come.
Jeff’s a genius but Page knew how to write a catchy riff.
“So Clapton, Beck and Page? Am I missing anyone? “
Link Wray started it all!
I grew up hearing about Led Zeppelin. Here all this time, I thought it was a man, not a group!
But, truly- can any of these sexagenarians touch the pure
cutting truth of country music like this from the Earls of Leicester (friend Jerry Douglas and a team of experts in the true sound of real American music)— because in reality... people “don’t care anymore” for any imports:

I hope to see this band reunite more than any other and I’m young enough to get and maintain an erection without any perscriptions.
Would have been intriguing to hear what Zeppelin would have sounded like if Ox and Moonie had joined them, which almost did happen.
“Jeffs a genius but Page knew how to write a catchy riff.”
That is true. Also holds for Keef! But I saw Beck in concert playing A Day In The Life, and I was stunned! So were Neil(very good player) and Dr. Z.
