A) Many who supported Bush were not conservatives
B) Those who were believed him to be the only candidate capable of defeating Gore, and then Kerry, and threw in their support as the lesser of two evils.

Afterward...
I don’t know any Conservatives who supported:
- giving Sen. Kennedy the pen to write No Child Left Behind
- forming the Department of Homeland Security
- creating the Transportation Security Administration
...just to name three of his Big Govt failures.

Bush wasn’t pure as the wind-driven snow, but everyone realized a Gore or Kerry Administration would have really screwed things up. And how hosed would we have been if, say, we’d got 8 years of Gore followed by The Barackalypse?
