However Trump handles it, you can be sure he will be focused more on long term success than short term gratification/virtue signaling. Unfortunately, we can be sure of nothing of the kind.

If Trump fails to veto this continuing resolution he has undermined every foundational stone of his presidency. How can he be heard in September to reverse himself 180° and veto a budget of like kind once again presented by the same coalition, (as you somehow believe it to be free of input from Trump) of Democrats and rinos when he has endorsed essentially the same budget today? That would be the mother of all flip-flops.

He simply cannot do so and retain credibility. By credibility I mean his "focus" as you put it for "long-term success". The whole idea that Trump can swim with the Democrats and the rinos for the first crucial nine months of his presidency and then do an about-face and become a righteous conservative is simply silly.

It is now or never.

Are we supposed to believe the Trump's behavior concerning Rino reform of healthcare is a one off? Are we supposed to believe that the people he has associated himself with, those whom he made you believe were the very figures of evil, Goldman Sachs, have no influence on him? Are we to believe that his daughter and his son-in-law similarly are hanging around for the canapés in the White House and have no influence? We will soon know. If Trump fails to veto this continuing resolution only those psychologically addicted, akin to enablers, can fail to believe that they have been deceived by all the grand promises of the campaign. If, on the other hand, Trump vetoes the bill and takes the case to the country reminiscent of Harry Truman or Ronald Reagan and gives ' em Hell and tells the country he's putting his own legacy and reputation at risk on their behalf perhaps then he can carry the day and perhaps then he will be worthy of belief. Perhaps then he will be worthy of all the adulation he has received for doing nothing more than making grandiose promises.

Do not misjudge me, if he does the honorable thing, I will be his head cheerleader. But do not invert reality, it is Trump's responsibility to prove what he is rather than our responsibility as sentinent citizens to continue to deny the evidence of our own eyes on faith

‘And that’s when PP can be dealt with, the EPA, and anything else that needs to funded, or defunded. You are not waiting for an eternity; you are waiting until September of this year. Sheesh.’

NB, see all of post 56, and take it to heart. It speaks to your issues.

The Swamp will not be drained by the end of the first 100 days. The only people saying it has to be now or never are Trump-haters. Those of us who support him are willing to give him a *little* more time.

Btw, Flaglady, your post 56 is brilliant. Thanks for adding it to the discussion.
