There was apparently an issue with a microphone used for the national anthems prior to Game 3 between the Ducks and Oilers in Edmonton.
Canadian country music star Brett Kissel was supposed to perform the anthems, however, as he stepped up to the mic, he soon discovered that there seemed to be a malfunction.
With some quick encouragement from Kissel, fans at Rogers Place stole the show with stirring renditions of both the American and Canadian national anthems.
Despite the liberals’ almost-constant efforts to ruin it, sports is one of the last bastions of good people.
When I was young, we were taught that Americans and Canadians were the ideal neighbors. 3,000 miles of common border, not a weapon pointed in hostility, in either direction.
Nice to see some of that goodwill still exists.
Lovely good will showing. Alas, couldn’t happen below the border since few here could sing the Canadian anthem. I could start the “Oh, Caaa-naaa-daaa” and then hum along to the melody pretty well.....

ESPN could not be reached for a comment, but we all know what it would have been: “THAT’S RACIST!”
Dang. Wish I could see and hear it but the website won’t let me unless I turn my ad blocker off. That ain’t gonna happen.
It’s got to be on YouTube by now.
Our national anthem became a full-throated vocal concert by both student and parents (I was watching)!
It seems to be a "Trump" thing; making me proud, because I worked on the campaign at the local level last year!
Ah, yes. The magic of youtube.
That explains why it sounded like a barroom fully of rowdy, drunk Irishmen. There was no music to go by so everybody just picked a note and belted it out.
Good for Ottawa singing our anthem with such gusto!
That makes me proud to hear as a GR resident and GVSU that my university still carries a lot of west Michigan values.
On the way back I mentioned that I hadn't heard Oh Canada in French in quite a while. As a result, the bus full of drunk Canadians and one drunk American singing in French were stopped by the Marine guards at the gate to Naval Station, Charleston. After speaking with the petty officer driving they waved us through. The captains following behind us were stopped and their car searched.
When we arrived back at their ship I was invited aboard for a nightcap while a Canadian PO made sure my all too sober driver didn't stay that way. Coming from a naval family I knew the various traditions of wardroom visitors to Royal Navy and daughter services wardrooms.
After looking around the wardroom I commented that it was a shame I didn't have anything to drink or I would propose a toast to Queen Elizabeth. If a visitor will propose a toast to the Queen, the Queen buys the bottle. The Queen bought a VERY nice bottle of Scotch. I'm still not exactly sure how the PO and I got back to the ship. Evidently all was well as I never heard anything from the XO or Captain.
Years later I won free drinks from the Canadian Liaison Officer because I was the only non-Canadian who could sing Oh Canada (badly) in French.

Spine-tingling. And they didn't drag it out for ten minutes like so many Americans singers do.
Good on ya, Oilers fans.
That’s fantastic! I hope to hear of more displays of patriotism as the Obama years fade into well-deserved obscurity.

Calgary once did act the opposite way, that was a few years ago.
Not the anthem but the flag—when the Braves (IIRC) faced the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series, a Canadian flag displayed by Marines was accidentally hung upside down.Soon there were T shirts with an upside down US flag and the caption
SORRY EH!At the next game it was announced the Marines had “requested the privilege” of again displaying the maple leaf flag and they got it right.
The fans seemed to like "the rockets red glare". It got noticeably louder there. Must be a bunch of warmongers!
