The Talk Shows
Apr 30th, 2017
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sen. Chuck U. Schumer, D-N.Y.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Vice President Mike Pence; Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): President of the United States Donald J. Trump.
THIS WEEK (ABC): President Donald Trump's chief of staff, Reince Priebus; Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
To me the biggest problem during that time was the spinelessness of the Republicans.
Consider this: They had ALL the power. The House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House, and while they did cut taxes, they not only did NOT cut spending, but increased it in many ways and, of course, military spending grew due to the War on Terror.
I’m not complaining about the military spending; we HAD to.
But a thousand other entitlements and give-aways were kept afloat or added to during that time. Nonsense such as “No Child Left Behind” and other boondoggles.
So here we are , 16 years later, and we control, once again, both legislative bodies and the presidency.
CAN we cut spending this time? $20 trillion in debt is laughable. How can we EVER pay it back? Is that their thinking? Or is it fear of entitlement voters wiping them out in the next election?
No one has balls but the President, and he needs the help of others to loft them higher...
I don’t think the youngins woke up. They are the new wave that will bring their views into the other age groups as the Millennials age. They are the future. They are the products of our ultra liberal education system. They are the agents of our transformation.
Sundance over at CTH has some thoughts.
Obama bashed Fox for eight years without any of the MSM coming to the defense of Fox in the name of freedom of the press. They said nothing when Fox was banned from the Obama campaign plane in 2008.
Never mind “Fake news”...next week Full Measure will cover:
FAKE SCIENCE!
On specific questions about how best to organize the economy, for example, young people's views seem conflicted. Just 27 percent believe government should play a large role in regulating the economy, the Harvard poll found, and just 30 percent think the government should play a large role in reducing income inequality. Only 26 percent said government spending is an effective way to increase economic growth.
Seems to me they sure as Hell don't believe in big government.
I think most of the young people today are stupid and vapid, parroting platitudes they've heard from liberal professors and teachers. Kind of like my generation in the late 60s-early 70s.
Once they get "robbed" so-to-speak, by either a real criminal or one representing the government, they'll drop the groupthink and realize they've been led by the pied piper of progressivism.
Still, we've changed economically, from real capitalism back in the 19th Century to the 21st Century's Crony Capitalism.
Look at how many Wall Street and rich "Arts" type support the democrats. Not without quid pro quo, I am certain. And of course, the GOPe's Cheap Labor Express...
That's what I meant to say, but I am not as well spoken as you.
Face the Nation will now attempt to cover the “First 100 Days”
They showed some video of last night’s rally and a congratulatory staff blurb afterwards. Now an interview with DJT.
Trump doesn’t want to discuss Nork missles except they may not be very good, but they eventually will be.
Sharyll does a great job no question.
Meanwhile F.Chuck over at MTP perhaps wondering if he is next on the Nasty Megan moves to NBC hit list after killing off the big boy of morning tv Matt Lauer. For now F. Chuck does his usual gotcha attempt at VP Pence. The Vice President handles him well and gets our message out in spite of one gotcha after another by F.Chuck.
(CBS)Trump just said “fake news...which sometimes includes you”...told him he watches the show and calls it “Deface the Nation”.
Goes on to attack the fake news.
What has changed is that zero has shut up for the most part, opinions vary as to why,and Trump takes him apart little by little every week. It's a joy to watch.
Great post exactly what happened.
LOL. I'll have to read that transcript.
I'm curious about what motivated the producer of our political theater to put the actors Collins and King on teevee this morning.
For sure the bias shown by the drivebys is unending and almost expected by many.Thankfully, slowly but surely they are dying a slow death.
Trump being interrupted by some bozo on cbs who thinks hes still a candidate and not potus, shows little respect.
Strongly disagree. That starry-eyed boneheadedness is the province of every young generation. They’ll wake up when the school of hard knocks comes a-bashin’!
An extremely tough chart to do since there are so many players.
HA!!! Love it!
Give us more!
I’m absolutely amazed that CBS let this Trump interview air. Very adversarial.
I wonder what (if anything) did wind up on the cutting room floor.
I’ll bet Dickherson is wishing he had not taken on the President on camera.
