Washington (AFP) - A federal judge has ordered the Arkansas authorities to conduct an autopsy on the body of an executed inmate whose lawyer described his death as "horrifying," including jerking and convulsions during his lethal injection.
Judge Kristine Baker of the US Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas issued the order late Friday, less than 24 hours after the state executed the 38-year-old convicted multiple murderer Kenneth Williams.
He was the last of four inmates put to death in a week -- the first executions by the conservative southern state since 2005.

As far as I am concerned, the most important finding of this examination will be whether the perp is dead or not.
Arkansas should just say “no” and move on.
They should just go back to public hangings.
So what?
They should ship the body to her and tell her to do it herself if she wants it done.
Autopsy result:
“He’s dead, Jim.”
I don’t like the idea of the Government putting people to death, but if the inmate was found guilty with due process applied for the convicted - too bad!
P.S. Does anybody know the crimes committed by the condemned?
The dying murderer was jerking and convulsing? Where is my hankie? Sheesh.
Their new policy should be: Immediate cremation upon declaration of death.
Coroner to judge six months later: “We’ve concluded our exhaustive autopsy and determined the manner of death to be death by lethal injection. Case closed.”
Like!
You know the rest of the world is laughing at us with this crap. Saddam used to lower people into wood chippers,...slowly. These same people griping about this are the same ones that didn't want Bush to go into Iraq.
There's a treatment for convulsions. IV benzodiazepines.
Guess what they use to relax executees?
High dose benzodiazepines.
I seriously doubt this guy "suffered" in any way.
He would have been out like a light.
Gee maybe the State should be using the self assisted suicide drugs on death row. The libs seem to think they’re great!
This judge resides in a safe, affluent neighborhood. She has no conception of what the victims of these murderers go through.
The constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. It does not guarantee a painless execution.
I wouldn’t have cared if he did..really....though I prefer hanging for criminals...done deal.....or even sooting wouldn’t bother me....but this business of making them comfortable....nah!
Send the bill to the judge.
