Hollywood is dealing with strike fever again, 10 years after the Writers Guild of America staged an acrimonious 100-day work stoppage.
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations and the NFL Players Assn. both issued strong statements of support Thursday. AFl-CIO President Richard Trumka cited WGA estimates that the major entertainment conglomerates made $51 billion in profits last year.
“The members of the Writers Guilds deserve a fair return on their work at an incredibly profitable time for their industry,” he said.

I’m really hoping for a 1-3 year writer’s strike...MSM news readers laid off, H-1B Third World late night TV Show hosts deported back to Britain, unfunny native late night TV Show hosts laid off and forced to work in TV Studio cafeterias as waitresses and janitors to fulfill their contract obligations, all Hollywood awards shows cancelled, .....
It’s a good thing they’ve announced it, because 90% of us wouldn’t know about this looming catastrophe .

indeed. plus about 100 other successful “reality” shows since then, a few which are actually interesting, like “Bering Sea Gold”.
In the mean time, 99.9% of scripted shows are stupidly unwatchable, shows like ABP, 2 Broke Girls, and, well, pretty much ALL scripted network shows, actually.
After the last writers strike we got reality programs.
After this strike we may end up watching youtube series.
Each 5 minutes long with a season of 5 episodes.
