Not too far off the mark, maybe not Jill Stein, who is too flaky and radical. Since the McGovern debacle, the Democrats have won with a seemingly moderate Presidential candidate: Carter, Bill Clinton, Obama. All were liberals, and in the case of Obama, radical. However, they all benefited from weak Republican candidates. If they want to win, they should recruit Kasich, who will be 68 in 2020, close to Trump and Hillary's ages last year. Kamala Harris, a double minority and a fire eating leftist, could hold the VP slot. She will be 56 in 2020, and a possible candidate in 2024 or 2028. Trump's support in the “collar” suburban counties in the South, Midwest, and West was weaker than what Romney or McCain received. Cutting the winning margins or even flipping a few of them could cause Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and even Missouri to go Democrat due to Kasich’s appeal to RINOs.
