I knew you had moved since our “Granny” days but had forgotten where you settled. Do you live near the Blue Ridge Mts? That is one of my three favorite places in this U S of A-the other two being Acadia Nat’l Park here in Maine and the Gulf Islands Nat’l Seashore in Fla. I guess you know that I am strictly an outdoor person literally despising cooking and house work. We still camp and love to go to the Moosehead Lake region and camp in the wilderness at the edge of one of the many lakes where the state has erected outdoor privies, picnic tables and fire rings for the public to use. Hardly ever run into any other campers-these places are so remote. My children are very upset that we go to these areas but we take a cell phone and hope there will be reception in the area we pick to camp in.

There is nothing like waking up to the call of Loons on a lake and the smell of coffee brewing on an outdoor fire.

Anyhow, we have visited the Blue Ridge Mts. many times and love the fabulous views on a clear day. The Blue Ridge Parkway is such a beautiful drive. Many, many years ago we stayed at a resort at the top of one of the mts. Can’t remember the name, Sky-Top (maybe) and the deer came right up to our doorstep.

You sound very happy with your new home and I wish you much happiness in your future.

thank you miss. Yes I have mountains i can see out my window that start at the end of the holler (I get to live in a holler! so that means I’m in the foothills, I guess). anyway, the mountains are the Iron mountains that are part of the blue ridge mountains. I’m still learning all the different names for the ranges near here.

I remember you loved anything outdoors! I hate cleaning house too. but I like cooking and canning.

how do you camp - tent, trailer, ?
