President Donald Trumps budget director is threatening to withhold funding for Obamacare subsidies unless Democrats agree to help fund the border wall in the 2017 budget supplemental.
The offer follows weeks of determined Democratic opposition amid determined waffling by top GOP leaders to any funding for Trumps wall during this year.
We have our list of priorities, budget director Mick Mulvaney said at a business conference on Thursday. He continued:
Wont surprise anyone what some of them are. We want more money for defense. We want to build a border wall. We want more money for immigration, law enforcement. The Democrats may have some of their own priorities. I [already] indicated making some of these payments for the Obamacare subsidies is one of their priorities. Okay, thats fine. Were willing to be at that discussion if they want to have it and thats what were telegraphing

But the democrats lost and we won. So now make it so.
Do the idiot republicans in the senate and congress who oppose The Wall and other Trump initiatives think their party can hold on to the majority if they don’t assist President Trump in keeping his 4 or 5 major campaign promises?
If there isn’t a substantial start to the wall soon the 2018 election will be a disaster.
If the wall isn’t almost built by the 2020 election it will be a bloodbath for republicans.
There will be no wall. It was just campaign rhetoric
I tuned into Rush the last few days and heard his description of the obstacles the RINOs are continually manufacturing — obstacles designed to prevent the longterm effects of Trump’s promises to all of us. Regrettably, there’s no urgency to force the RINOs to properly represent the voters that elected Trump.
The Establishment is once again comfortable pissing in our shoes.
No wall, no GOP, no peace.
>> It was just campaign rhetoric
Nonsense. Trump is a producer/builder by trade. Don’t displace Establishment malfeasance onto Trump’s shoulders.
The Art of the Deal meets The Swamp.
“There will be no wall”
LOL. This reminds me of that famous Obama quote “Trump will never be president”.
I’m actually 100% sure that there will be a wall. Most of the land is already owned by the federal government and Trump can use money appropriated to other agencies very easily.
No Wall, then a third party.
If there is no wall, there is no second term. I think he has to come up with something that we will take for a wall. But if we don’t take it. He won’t get a second chance.
Frankly I think congress should add a huge amount of money to boarder security. Then Trump can use it for the wall or boarder fences or patrol officers. They don’t have to be specific in the bill. But he uses it to start the wall.
Look China has one. We should have one too.
OMG where do you get such notions?
I did NOT vote for the republican party this past election. I voted for Trump. Both in the primary and the general.
And things like this is why I voted for him and not some criminal backed entity.
IF there is no wall then Trump will lose support. Which will not be his fault but that is how the game works.
Try crossing into area 51 and see how well they do on borders.
I dare ya.
I don’t think the GOPe cares about holding the majority - they care about doing what their money masters want done. And frankly it’s easier for them to let the rats take the lead and just blame them for what’s happening.
Congress didn't appropriate this spending. It's unconstitutional as can be.
I don’t see how the GOP survives if they don’t start backing Trump.
I disagree. Trump voters aren't low information voters. They understand "how the game works". President Trump isn't the legislature. He isn't the Swamp.
If the Swamp prevents the wall from being built, the voters won't like it, but they sure as Hell aren't going to stay home—or vote Democrat—on that basis...
The opposition is not coming from the GOPe. Schummer is the one threatening to filibuster the whole spending bill if funding for the wall is included. He will fold IMO if the filibuster also cuts funding for Obamacare subsidies.
Paul Ryan and the other moderates couldn’t care less if a wall is built in San Diego, etc. They will fund it. It’s better than dealing with the bad PR if they oppose it.
