In the past the dems didn’t spend any money trying to win this district. But in this special election they overspent the gop and saturated the tv with ads.
But they still lost.
Scott Brown managed to pull off a win in that Massachusetts special election years ago without any help. Obama was just that toxic.
If the Dems and the media believe losing is winning, and they want to gloat about losing - I’m good with it.

Other states have had similar results. In 2012, Obama lost Orange County, California, but Hillary carried the county last year. Other states, not so much. The suburban counties around St. Louis, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland saw little deterioration and in some cases slight increases for Trump vs. Romney. In New York, Trump carried Staten Island and suburban Suffolk County, both of which Obama won in 2012.
Winning the allegiance of Never Trump GOP voters will have to center on issues such as lowering taxes and decreasing regulatory burden on the Federal level. Such measures will increase economic activity, which will benefit the affluent. A rising tide lift all boats.
The republicans blew this despite their talking point.

The GOP is called the “stupid party” for a reason.
The Republican Party didn't run 11 candidates. 11 Republicans threw their hats into the ring. This special election was effectively a primary. The runoff election in June is the real election.
It's all about name recognition for the next (e.g.2018) primary and general election. Whoever wins this special election contest will be primaried next year and those who did well but came up short, will be well positioned to run again.
This is good news, for the R bench is deep and wide. The D(ead) bench, not so much. This was the best they could do on short notice and they wasted a boodle of money getting to a runoff they will likely lose.
Jack Usoff (D-ead end) won't win against a solidified R opponent.
None of this is accidental or without a purpose. And it is not "dumb".

Well, Martha Coakley was an awful candidate.
Ossoff’s advertising budget doesn’t explain why Trump only won the district by 1 point from Clinton when every previous R nominee had won by 20+ points.

Why did the Dems run 5 candidates?
Huge midnight vote dumps always seem to benefit DemocRats and always seem to come from areas that have large Rat-infested cities.
Sometimes they don’t create enough votes to put the Rat into office.
Elections like this anyone can throw their hat into the ring. So, everyone did. The party could not control who did or did not run, even though they could endorse the best candidate and hope people follow that.

In a primary, I don’t think the party has any real control over how many people choose to run for the position.
I don’t like it either at times but anyone who thinks they have a shot at it or just think it would be fun can get their name on the ballot during the primary.
How can someone be so conservative on issues and yet not support 2nd amendment? Scratching my head on that one.
I hope you’re right. Someone seems to have been paying attention and found a way to stop the ballot stuffing that has given the Democrats so many miracle wins.
