What did he hope to gain from her concession?

A recount would have exposed voter fraud and she wouldn’t even have been able to lie about winning the popular vote

There’s a suggestion being posted elsewhere that Obama has some sense of the magnitude of Democrat fraud that occurs in every election. The sooner Hillary conceded, the less likely that messy recounts would expose wholesale Dem cheating.

Not damaging his own plans for the DNC? Remember that the Clintons and Obama’s never much liked each other. Hillary finally going away so the DNC becomes his has gotta be something Obama desired at some level. Had she pulled an Algore the lock her up cries would have continued longer than they have ... even as long as they ought!

That’s the part of this that doesn’t ring true. Why would he want this ended?

I totally believe Obama wanted to concede without a struggle.
Having Donald J Trump looking into voter fraud would be the stuff of nightmares for the dems.

He salvaged some dignity for the Democratic Party - she could only have shredded more credibility for all Democrats by hanging on. And maybe he just wanted to concede the obvious - I'm not going to refuse to credit Obama for doing the right thing when he finally does it, though his presidency was a catastrophe for the nation.
