the only problem with Pence being there is we know nothing will happen until after he leaves. Giving us time to get into position?
“Im betting weve already got that many nearby.”.......
When the SHTF you WILL KNOW! For now, keeping our powder dry and mouths SHUT is the best approach. NEVER, EVER give up your advantage and Trump knows and says, “It’s the art of the deal”.
Oh, for God sake, can’t we just whack this guy?
Don’t be silly, it is not unwarranted “negative” thinking to question an obviously flaky article. We do not now have “1,000 fighter jets on North Korea’s doorstep.”
Noting that fact does not mean we are not perfectly capable of doing that. It merely means that there are no indications we have actually done so to date. That would be huge move of a lot more USAF and USN planes than has occurred in recent weeks and months. There would be more carrier groups moved and/or a lot more re-positioning of air force squadrons to achieve those numbers in that immediate area.
The USA has around 2500 active duty “fighter jets” in the Air Force + Navy + Marines, but most of them are not based anywhere near Korea. To build up to 1,000 in the immediate vicinity (South Korea, Japan, carrier groups etc.) would take a lot more publicly noted movements than have occurred in recent weeks/months. Such a large set of movements would not have gone on in secret.
You can bet that China is watching the movement of our military assets....very closely. They could be intended for them one day, eh?
“Around 1,000 US airmen and fighter jets”
Incredibly stupid journalists changed that to ‘1000 jets and pilots’.
“Giving us time to get into position?”
That and an “in your face” direct message from the Trump administration.
VP Pence at the DMZ sends the message loud and clear.
We haven’t had this much testosterone in an administration since maybe Eisenhower.
I heard somewhere along the line several years ago that a squadron of 6 F16s could have done as damage with the precisions guided bombs as those large B17-B24 strikes did with hundreds of planes.
I've heard that if you get too many in one place, the whole dam island can tip over.
Guam definitely, Okinawa possibly, Japan would just sink from the southern end...
More like 500 jets and 500 pilots
China will be careful not to "invade" the Korean peninsula because that, too, would bring a response from President Trump.
I can think of at least 5 airfields in Japan and 2 in SK that could support - on top of the 3 carriers and all within range of NK. I think the 1000 they speak of is all aircraft not just fighters of course.
Nonsense.
And I don't believe we have over 6,000 in inventory.
This is DUMB news and I doubt in this administration would they telegraph what we are doing. I also think having all our aircraft carriers in one spot is dumb.
I don’t think we have 1000 mission ready fighter planes at any one time.
