Athleticism, size and weight are of little consequence in a beimo or real fight - which, as far as I know, Chuckie never engaged.

Ip Man is said to have easily defeated the teacher credited with actually training BL who was only, as you say, marginally better than Chuckie.

Athleticism and size count for something when opponents are comparably skilled and using similar styles, and Chuck was familiar with the Wing Chun style from working out with Bruce--Chuck uses a JKD version of a Wing Chun vertical fist in one of the scenes from Lone Wolf McQuade, for example. I'm not sure who you're talking about when you mention "the teacher credited with actually training BL", but you're probably thinking of Wong Shun Leung, whom I mentioned in my previous post. (Bruce was initially trained by his own father, who taught him some Tai Chi; then by Yip Man; and when YM wasn't around, he was trained by some of YM's students who were his seniors, mainly Wong Shung Leung and William Cheung, who trained him in streetfighting when he was a gang member.) Yip Man beat Wong Shun Leung before WSL started taking Wing Chun lessons from him, but after he learned Wing Chun he became a better streetfighter than Yip (whose health wasn't very good in his later years), and he handled most of the challenges to Yip's school. WSL was one of Yip's two best fighters (the other being Leung Sheung). WSL was a better fighter than Bruce when they were younger, but when Bruce was in his prime, they sparred together and they were about equal.
