Election facts & results, Kansas, 4th Congressional District: vote totals, Republican, 63,505, Democrat, 55,310, Margin of Republican victory, 8,475 votes. Eight percent Republican victory. Counties won by Republican, eighteen out of nineteen, Sedgwick County, the lone Democrat county victory was razor thin in margin, Democrats,41,293, Republicans, 39,419, a margin of victory of 2,174 votes!!! Note: if this had been a regularly scheduled election, the Republican victory would have been massive!!! End of story!!!
Exactly! Off year elections seem to have lower turnout here from my experience for whatever reason. A normal year election, the dems focus would be on defending more seats, and this would have not been that close.
Jim Thompson already signed up to run again in 2018 but he won't have near the support system this go round as the dems will have to focus on defending many more seats and turnout will be much better for Estes (that is as long as he doesn't do something terrible that ticks off the voters).
