Our take-out of Saddam was the biggest favor we could have done for Iran. He was their No. 1 enemy. When he was deposed, he was replaced by Shiites who had been living as exiled in Iran. When they took power in Iraq, that country suddenly became Iran’s closest ally. And all of this happened years before Obama came in — it was totally under George Bush. Moreover, the new Iraq constitution said that shiite law was the highest law of the land. All of this “progress” was purchased at the cost of $2 trillion in American tax dollars, and thousands of American lives.

And one other side effect: 500,000 Iraqi Christians killed or driven from their homes, by the crazy jihadists who were let loose when we killed Saddam, who had kept them under his heel.

Yes, the Iraq invasion was the biggest strategic blunder in American history.
