"We know who would rush in to fill the void if we eliminated the Assad regime, because they are already perched right there on the doorstep of Damascus: the Islamic State and al Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra."

That's the objective! Duh.

Trump just made the US's covert war, overt - something not even Odinga, Hitlery, and Lurch pulled off. As evidenced by recent fact, DJT is a liar regarding the Middle East. He can never be trusted again.

Another fact, the world's largest and most powerful Christian just brought open war to a Muslim Damascus, setting the stage for the ultimate goal, the nation next door.

Got prophecy?

It isn't a coincidence this happened just before Pesach (or 9/11 happened just before Rosh Hashanah).

Didn’t Bush get Congress’s approval for Iraq? I think so. Article is a waste of time.

Hopefully, Trump will not be as STUPID as some of our recent American “leaders”. But who the hell knows.

I’m hoping that Trump was simply using the chemical incident (whether by Assad’s forces, by the Islamist “rebels”, or by an accident) as a convenient provocation/pretext for his attack on Assad’s airfield at an opportune time to show his administration’s toughness.

Hopefully, this American bombing of Assad was, and will remain, a one-off event.

George W. Bush's regime change in Iraq was a mistake. It destabilized the region, empowered and emboldened Iran, aided al Qaeda, and created an environment where the Islamic State could flourish and grow.

No. Iran slowed it nuclear program. Libya handed its WMD program over. There was no refugee crises like the one under Obama. I wonder why that is. Iraq was not easy, but nothing compared to WW2. We civilians were not attacked during WW2. We civilians were attacked on 9/11. Saddam was a big backer of terrorism. He liked playing with WMD. Remember the 500 tons of yellow cake that was shipped to Canada?

Obama destabilized almost every country in the ME. The ridiculous pull out of Iraq. The promotion of Arab Spring in Libya, Egypt and Syria. Yemen is a total failure. Finally, Obama negotiated a travesty of a deal with Iran giving Iran $150 Billion to do with as it pleases. Assad is Iran's front man and an ally of Russia.

A punitive strike in response to chem weapons usage is one thing, but pushing for regime change in Syria is a horrendous idea. There are NO good alternatives to the current regime there. And sure as hell, we must avoid the temptation of pouring large numbers of our troops in there. That will not get the backing of the people of this country, nor should it.
