For CNN, it took a war and pointed, globalist "rhetoric" for Trump to become President of the United States. Per CNN host Fareed Zakaria on "New Day" this morning:
I think Donald Trump became president of the United States last night. I think this was actually a big moment."
"Candidate Trump had said that he would never get involved in the Syrian civil war. He told President Obama you can not do this without the authorization of Congress. He seemed unconcerned with global norms."
"President Trump recognized that the President of the United States does have to act to enforce international norms, does have to have this broader moral and political purpose. President Trump realized, as every president has for many decades now, that they have inherent legal authority as commander-in-chief and they don't have to go to a pesky Congress every time they want military force."
For the first time really as president, he talked about international norms, international rules, about Americas role in enforcing justice in the world. It was the kind of rhetoric that we've come to expect from American presidents since Harry Truman, but it was the kind of rhetoric that President Trump had pointedly never used either on the campaign trail nor in his inaugural."
"So I think there has been an interesting morphing and a kind of education of Donald Trump."
“Gas is a weapon of terror..”
As are bullets, explosives, aircraft and even trucks, etc.
Using that logic, then we should be involved in every single conflict across the globe due to weapons of terror being used.....
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid Billy Boy.
You are utterly clueless.
Anyone who ditches Trump over this was never really a Trump supporter.
“And a single strike against a Syria airfield is not war. It is the sending of a message.”
Yes, but the message my not interpreted as you wish. Some see it as a message of forceful strength. Others, including world leaders like Putin will likely see it as a message of weakness. A super power lobbing 59 cruise missiles against a third rate Arab nation fighting for its life against radical Islam. A nation that has virtually no ability to hit back. It’s akin to a drunk walking into a bar and starting a fight with the smallest man he can find.
“Wheres the Its not Fascism when WE do it ...’
It seems FR has a very strong Neo-Con contingent who are besides themselves with joy that Trump just upped the ante in the Middle East.....
“Campaign promises? We don’t need no stinkin’ campaign promises’
Myself and many here understand exactly the reasons for this attack and they are many.
Suggest you educate yourself in the area of both tactical and strategic politics and the difference between each. A look at history recent wouldn’t hurt either.
Sorry your candidate lost but time too get over your sore butt and move on.
By the way, the reason the libs are applauding this bombing is even THEY see it’s popularity across the country as a necessary and humanitarian act in the sense it will serve to deter future acts of this kind.
You don’t even seem to realize the extent to which war is political.
‘Suggest you educate yourself in the area of both tactical and strategic politics and the difference between each. A look at history recent wouldnt hurt either.”
Really? Look at WW 1 for a great history of fool-hardy European tactical and strategic politics. Didn’t work out very well for Hitler, Mussolini or Tojo either. The British Empire destroyed itself on needless politically based warfare. I could go on and on in regards to major errors made by politicans who don’t understand the rule of unforeseen consequences and blow-back.
“Sorry your candidate lost but time too get over your sore butt and move on.”
If you’re so brilliant, you’d have checked my posting history before writing such a lie. I’ve been pro
Trump since he announced. I took him at his word.
“By the way, the reason the libs are applauding this bombing is even THEY see its popularity across the country as a necessary and humanitarian act in the sense it will serve to deter future acts of this kind.”
LOL, can I have some of what you’re smoking!
“Anyone who ditches Trump over this was never really a Trump supporter.”
I’m not ditching him....yet. But, I will hold him accountable to his campaign promises. He just broke a very major one.
Britain was an expansionist Nation and simply aquired more territory then she could control. Comparing America to Britain confirms your lack of historical knowledge.
Your respnse tells me you didn’t understand any of wha I was trying to explain.
Because the guy bombing terrorists used nerve gas in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, 2013, and UN Resolution 260, 1948, as passed (ratified?) by Congress, 1988.
Who cares? Dead al-Qaeda is dead al-Qaeda. I like them dead. I'm not troubled how they got that way.
oh, so if they’re bad guys it’s ok to use nerve agents? I’m sure we’re the ‘bad guys’ to some. See how that logic works?
You take a stand or you don't.
Trump took a stand. Would you rather he takes a stand in Latvia? Ukraine? Or do you prefer a namby pamby asshole like Obama?
; )
Freeper Snowflakes are melting...
We use drone-launched hellfires. Is this somehow more honorable?
Dead is dead. Get over it.
Because of Obama and his weak kneed feckless foreign policy, that you support, I have new Syrian refugees living just blocks away from me:
