You may have said that somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but really, what's the big surprise?
It doesn't matter what it is or what country it's in, money and power buy influence. If you want to go to a "prestigious" school like Harvard, you'll have to pay the man.
Maybe it's an eastern thing, because I'm from the West and went to university in the West, but who cares who goes to Harvard? I could give a hill of beans if Jared Kushner went to Harvard on his daddy's dime or got in with his great grades. Either way, who cares? Not I.
But I do think many of the problem we have in this country can be traced back to the people running the government who are products of these liberal, elitist, stuck-up, look-down-their-noses-at-everyone-else, we-know-better-than-you schools like, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, etc.
.
Columbia is just a high priced junior college.

Sadly, you just don’t get “it”.
Native New Englander, moved to West Coast, back 25 years later.
Nothing has changed.
You get into Hahvud and join “the Club”.
The Club buys you a wife and a life.
A Country Club Membership, and a Seat on Several Boards.
These folk ain’t talented, but they are Vapid, useless Loozahs.
Capable of fooling the Universe and being utterly Foolish ‘Leaders’.
Kinda like J Effin K and Barky
“Maybe it’s an eastern thing...”
It’s a universal thing. While not a Yale Student, nor Yale Faculty I ran a department at Yale University and have somewhat of a firm ground to stand on when speaking with Yalies.
The coveted “Yale Chair” is a prime example. This chair is meant to occupy the Alumnus office, but you don’t sit in it. Only Yalies know the significance of this chair. And if you are a yalie, there is a secret handshake.
Not everyone gets that.
