“Another payoff via book deal. Seems to be a popular strategy.”
My thoughts exactly.
If any publisher thinks they will earn back $60 million from those three books, they are nuts.

So the real question is who is paying for this? and what do they think they will get in exchange for the bribe?

A new-release hardcover typically sells for $25-$30. Even if there were no publication, editing, printing and distribution costs, they would need to sell 2 to 2.5 million copies just to break even. Figuring in production costs, it would be 4 to 6 million copies. It seems a stretch.

"If any publisher thinks they will earn back $60 million from those three books..."LOL -- I know you didn't mean it this way, but they'll be lucky if they sell three of the books written by this nitwit and the woman dumb enough to marry him...

If any publisher thinks they will earn back $60 million from those three books, they are nuts. The losses are tax deductible so we taxpayers are being robbed for the benefit of Progressive Socialists again. If we weren't so used to it maybe we would complain.
