I went through 8 revisions of my master’s thesis because my advisor said it was “too technical” for my field of study. The end result was something that was a narrative pile of crap, and I refused to submit it. Yet garbage like this passes muster, likely more than once every semester, and academe just lets it happen.
Today you could submit something like that and put your more technical research online as an ‘addendum’ to it (or something)
