“international immigrants”?
that’s Newspeak for “illegal aliens”, right?
I have family in Texas. Most of them are leaving before it goes hard blue.
Some have “come home” to Nebraska, because they fear what will happen when Austin becomes the “conservative” town in TX.
Funny thing is, I just spent a week south of Dallas. Not bad, love the people, just not my people (I like the seasons and the land of the Midwest).
However, I saw a lot of signs that things are not as red in Texas as they once were.
I moved away 35 years ago haven’t looked back.
My family fled. Insanely high taxes, crime, liberals, gun control regs.
No oceanfront is worth it.
I also live on Long Island, and for the most part, I agree with you.
But looking at my tax bill, I have to say that the amount paid to my school district absolutely dwarfs any other amount, including the police, which is the second largest line item.
To the school district, I pay $9,634. To the police...$1,356. Total (property) tax bill: $15,396. Looking at the rest of the bill, I see a stunning 21 other line items, which make up the rest of the amount due.
And gee...we didn’t even use the schools. Our kids went to Catholic school and/or were home schooled. (For less money than the school district stole from us to NOT send out kids there.)
So it seems to me that the school lobby is the biggest culprit here, by far.
Oh, and of course, this does not even include the ridiculous state income taxes, either.
Regards,
PS: One day, we will also escape NY, and I promise you that you will LOVE having us as neighbors because the only things I’ll miss are my Mets and the occasional bagel.
Well we in Utah could encourage the Mormons to move to New York, I’m sure that would help...
I know it would help Utah!!!
Treat them like an invasive species. What would you do if a pack of coyotes settled in your backyard? There’s your answer.
They foul their nest then want to move to ours.No thank you.
Here in the greater Tampa area, it seems like everyone I meet is from NY, NJ or Chicago.
However, nice thing is most of them are conservatives fleeing the dem controlled areas.
Leaving NY cuz its become unlivable only to go elsewhere and continue voting in Libs.
You mean the Cuomo-family isn’t doing a good job?
I left in 1974 but went back regularly to visit my parents in Queens. They passed away in the 2000s. Haven't been back since, except to see my sister in Nassau County.
Before nonwhite minorities decided to be taught and believe all whie people should be killed.
I lived in CA for about a year back in 1976. I recall seeing those “Fleeing Families” warning signs way back then. I asked my dad what they meant - I had never seen such things before. He said it was to warn motorists to be on the lookout for the Mexicans who cross over the border and run across the roadways to avoid being caught by border guards. I thought it was the weirdest thing I had ever heard of.
Then I went to ninth grade for about four months - a whole different world from where I came from in NY. Half the students could barely speak English, most were part of a school gang (four or five gangs on school grounds)and the schools had to have armed guards. In 1976, Hawthorn CA.
Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) - Billy Joel
Seen the lights go out Broadway
I saw the Empire State laid low
And life went on beyond the Palisades
They all bought Cadillacs
And left there long ago
They held a concert out in Brooklyn
To watch the island bridges blow
They turned our power down
And drove us underground
But we went right on with the show
I’ve seen the lights go out on Broadway
I saw the ruins at my feet
You know we almost didn’t notice it
We’d seen it all the time on Forty second street
They burned the churches down in Harlem
Like in that Spanish civil war
The flames were everywhere
But no one really cared
It always burned up there before
I’ve seen the lights go out on Broadway
I saw the mighty skyline fall
The boats were waiting at the battery
The union went on strike
They never sailed at all
They sent a carrier out from Norfolk
And picked the Yankees up for free
They said that Queens could stay
And blew the Bronx away
And sank Manhattan out at sea
You know those lights were bright on Broadway
That was so many years ago
Before we all lived here in Florida
Before the Mafia took over Mexico
There are not many who remember
They say a handful still survive
To tell the world about
The way the lights went out
And keep the memory alive
I have mostly forgiven the Congress. Mostly.

Problem is, they’re moving to North Carolina and bringing their whiney s**t with them (and their voting habits).
The only thing I miss from Yonkers is the pizza.....
Oh, don't get me started! At my parent's place in Glendale, Queens there was (maybe still is) a local pizzaria called Grace's. Absolute mouth-watering pizza. Haven't had anything to equal it anywhere. Don't know what it is about NY pizza.
LMAO! The only Texans that drive slow are stoned on Colorado dope. I had to take a Ford truck back to the dealer and get the speed limiter bumped up from 95 to 200 MPH.
