After removing Katie Walsh from the White House staff, President Trump now moves to confront the #NeverTrump coalition in congress, Hillary’s Favorite Caucus, head on.
More than half of the remaining members of the House Freedom Caucus are still #NeverTrump, entrenched and intransigent Pro-Ted Cruz ideologues. They oppose Trump and have never moved beyond losing in the primary. They are still fighting the 2016 primary race they lost.
It appears President Trump has had enough of their ideological gridlock.

Late comers doesnt mean nevertrumpers.
The idea of the FC being mostly nevertrumpers is not correct.
See post 63 on this thread
Which group is going to be the most supportive of president Trumps goals? The GOPe or the FC?
We all know the answer is the Freedom Caucus!
Actually, the freedom caucus has damaged Trump’s entire agenda far more than Nancy Pelosi. Who’da thunk it?
Most of the FC members who were not explicitly Never Trump gave him the minimum support required as the nominee of their party. I know because my former rep is one of them. Clearly they intend to minimally support Trump again now that he is in the White House.

Some were some early on. Bottom line is that the overwhelming majority are NOT “never Trumpers” as this article asserts.
To: lodi90
Conservatives will vigorously support Trump on policy and issues when they agree with him. He will have no stronger ally.
And they will oppose him on issues and policy when they disagree.
That’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s a form of government. We call it a Republic. And we’re just barely still hanging on to it. You apparently, like most leftists, would prefer a Trump dictatorship.
This all bodes very poorly for the future with Trump already publicly declaring war on the conservative members of congress and threatening to oppose their re-election. He fights against my re-election then guess what? I fight against his.
Is this how you guys want it? Cause that’s what you’re creating.
This health care battle may look like small potatoes once the illegal immigration debate cranks up and Trump starts telling us how we need to grant amnesty to dreamers. When he does that, things are really going to get ugly. And in case you’re wondering, no, we won’t be compromising on amnesty either.

#nevertrump was an attitude.
I was Cruz supporter, and have been a long time. I sent him money, and I’m still on his mailing list. I switched to Trump before the Iowa caucus, because I thought Cruz waited too long to attack and spent too much on his state infrastructure plan. I saw the Trump handwriting on the wall and became a vocal supporter of Trump.
And while Cruz is now making nice with Trump, I don’t fool myself into thinking that Cruz is a Trump supporter or was not a #nevertrumper, and that that doesn’t still color their relationship.
Sundance is probably correct.

Some Truths about the House Freedom Caucus
There are a few people here on FR that are lying through their teeth. The HFC is NOT never-Trump, though some did not want him to win the nomination. That is not exactly rare; many here felt the same way. However, most HFC guys did endorse Trump after the nomination, or when it became clear he would win. And none, zero, are currently saying they are "never Trump." If anyone has proof otherwise, post it. Otherwise, you are a liar.
Did the HFC vote for Ryan? Most of them probably. There is no way to actually verify (their membership list is secret). But so did everyone else! The truth is the HFC held their nose and reluctantly voted for Ryan, as they did not want to get into a big speaker fight right before Trump was sworn in. Though I loathe Ryan, I would probably have done the same thing. There were serious discussions behind the scenes of doing it anyway, but they held their noses and voted after Trump indicated he wanted Ryan to stay. But rest assured, Ryan's no friend of the HFC, and vice versa. Blaming the HFC for Ryan being speaker is not just disingenuous, it is a smarmy weasel Sidney Blumenthal pajama-boy type fabrication of the type we despise libs for doing.
The HFC got rid of Boehner.

What would happen in 2018 when premiums increase over the already unaffordable Obamacare rates? Ryancare would have increased rates for the next 2 years. Why can’t insurance be allowed to be purchased across state lines as promised?
To: xzins
No. Sundance is not correct.
Sundance is an agenda driven liar and he knows it.
Here’s the list, in truncated form:
Mark Meadows In 2015, The Washington Post called him the Donald Trump of the House of Representatives.
Justin Amash Anti-Trump.
Brian Babin supported Ted Cruz during the 2016 election.
Rod Blum He was an early Trump supporter.
Dave Brat Supported Donald Trump once Trump earned the nomination.
Mo Brooks Im going to vote for all the Republicans on the ballot.
Ken Buck Supports Trump on AHCA.
Warren Davidson Davidson has agreed with Trump 100 percent of the time since January.
Ron DeSantis DeSantis called on the GOP to unite around Donald Trump, according to Florida Politics.
Scott DesJarlais He endorsed Donald Trump in March 2016.
Jeff Duncan One of the first elected officials in the country to endorse Donald Trump for president.
Trent Franks Franks eventually supported Trump.
Tom Garrett Jr. Garret condemned the comments but said he would continue to support Trump.
Paul Gosar He endorsed Donald Trump for president in July 2016.
Morgan Griffith He supported Donald Trump after Trump became the Republican partys presumptive nominee.
Andy Harris He supported Trump after Trump became the Republican partys nomineer.
Jody Hice He said very little about Donald Trump during the 2016 election.
Ted Poe Trump, a businessman, wants to run the country like a business in the sense that people get back to work.
Millions of Americans have given up on the American Dream and quit looking for work and Trump can do that.
Bill Posey He supported Trump for president.
Mark Sanford He has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump.
David Schweikert Backed Donald Trump after Trump became the nominee.
Randy Weber He did not publicly support Donald Trump during the election.
Jim Jordan In May 2016, he said that he enthusiastically supports Trump.
Raúl Labrador He reluctantly supported Trump for president but condemned much of his rhetoric.
Alex Mooney He supported Donald Trump, including after the Access Hollywood tape in October.
Gary Palmer He supported Donald Trump during the election.
Steve Pearce He supported Donald Trump during the election.
Scott Perry He supported Donald Trump during the election.
Ted Yoho He formally endorsed Donald Trump in June 2016.
ONLY 4 OF 30 have failed to declare support for Donald Trump. (Amash, Sanford, Weber, Hice). And only 2 (Amash and Sanford) can be called NeverTrump.
So you can believe the facts an live in reality. Or you can believe liars like sundance and the sycophants here on FR . Your call.

Why cant insurance be allowed to be purchased across state lines as promised? Well, for one thing, it would be a massive trampling of states' rights. Funny how the "purists" overlook that inconvenient truth.
Make no mistake: I agree that the "selling across state lines" issue is a huge impediment to competition, but it sure seems to violate states' rights, because you'd have the federal government (which has no role over healthcare, right?) dictating what the states can (or can't) do with respect to insurance.
Seems pretty sticky to me, although I'd love to hear somebody explain how it's somehow not a states' rights issue.
People seem to want to have their cake and eat it too: on the one hand, they decry the federal government's involvement in the process at all, and on the other hand, they demand solutions which require the federal government's involvement.
And People wonder why the GOP Congress has trouble passing something? I'll tell you why: because they're not quite the total scumbags that the Democrats are. The GOP has pangs of conscience here and there, and a knowledge of Constitutional powers and the limitations placed thereon.
The Democrats, as powerless as the truly are, must be laughing their asses off all the same: "Those stupid Relublicans! They're trying to do something the right way! What fools!"
So maybe some "purist" around here can explain to me how you fix this "across state lines" issue without obliterating federalism in yet another realm.
The commerce clause can't come to the rescue here. That's the whole point, right? Insurance is sold within each state. It's not "interstate commerce"...

How many issues that Trump supports are you in favor of? How many do you oppose? We will have to wait how many times he changes his mind.
I was all for prosecuting Hillary.
I am all for deporting all illegal invaders. Seems like he is backing up on that promise
I am all for not letting any more muslim goat humping terrorists into our country. BUT wait, he is backing up. Now it is 8, no wait 7 for only 90 days.....WTH. That is not a ban that is a time out for a preschooler who was bad
I am all for REPEALING and replacing ObucketOshiitecare with something that benefits American Citizens. BUT wait, he through it in REVERSE and jumped feet first in bed with a Democratlite Ryno on a bill that over 100 Republicans in the House said they would not vote for.
So, when President Trump changes his mind on important issues that I feels strongly about, I will not sit idly by and send him praises sugar coated with dead patriots blood.

Nope—you are missing the big picture. Roll over and let Trump go RINO on us and he will. There is a reason that Bannon has asked us repeatedly to speak out when Trump falters.

Sorry, pal—revisit his official campaign position, as well as what he said repeatedly at his rallies. He was proposing to replace Obamacare with a free market solution, but to continue with Medicaid for the indigent. He never proposed Obamacare 2.0.
To: Rational Thought
A Republican Obamacare will coat the GOP the House, Trump a possible 2nd term, and the US what has been the best healthcare system in the world. There will be no opposition once the GOP passes Obamacare 2.0 in its own name.
To: xzins
Much Alinskyite ado about nothing.
The Republicans have had the power to defund Obamacare since they took over the House in 2011.
Constitutionally, the members of the House are in sole control of the national purse strings.
To: KyCats
Thank you for proving my point precisely.
To: 9YearLurker
I'm certain you're referring to what our health care system used to be, prior to Obamacare, when calling it the “best”.
Leaving Obamacare as it is would cost the Republican party everything.
Questions become....Do they care?....Does it matter which party is in control (supporting the uni-party belief)?
This is Trumps administration and I hope he's as smart as I believe he is in order to fix the damage that's been done.
