Oil/chemical? Other stories I’ve seen said it was a pvc fire.. This would make more sense since pvc isn’t hot enough to really damage concrete.

” ... why they didn’t have an airport firetruck from Peachtree-DeKalb drive south on the northbound lanes to get to the fire with foam.”

Two firetrucks from Hartsfield-Jackson showed up and used foam to extinguish the fire. By then, however, the damage was done.

Back in 2007 a tanker fire destroyed part of the MacArthur 880 / 580 interchange, Interstate 580 connector. C.C. Myers Inc. won the low bid and completed the reconstruction in 25 days. Atlanta needs an engineering contractor of this caliber.

Anyone who has built a homemade rocket motor out of PVC pipe and H2O2 knows the energy is there...it just wants to be released.

Probably are a few people around who have built homemade rocket motors, but I’ve never met one.

Want to bet warehousing combustibles under the free dry space of elevated roadway is a common practice? A ready made road-map for ISIS sympathizers to shut down a city by arson.

The lower floors of the twin towers collapsed W/O the heat of a fire being upon them.

They did have the cumulative weight of all of the above floors pancaking upon them.

In good traffic, it would also take at least 20 minutes to go from Hartsfield-Jackson to the scene.

Atlanta has been a pain to drive in ever since I can remember.

For one thing, it seems like every damned street is named “Peachtree Street.”

Ya know what I can’t believe? That there is a Grant park, and streets named after that scallywag.
