"The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!" - Donald Trump
“When you embarrass the boss publicly and contribute to his defeat in his first major initiative
I agree. The republican majority in the senate and house failed to work together among themselves. Whats Trump supposed to do? He wants to get things done.”
Bingo.
26 posts before someone gets it. Thank you.
He's in a new game, and he wants to "win" this one too.
The more I think about it, and I'll stop thinking about it soon (having made up my mind), Ivanka dropping the "run Trump Properties" gig in favor of an unpaid WH gig bothers me. She's getting something out of this, and as the saying goes, "it's all about control." I don't like her having an office in the WH, not one bit. If my old man had a well run company, and I was "into it" as a manager, and my old man landed a political job, I'd stick with the paying job, if I was good enough at it and enjoyed it. I don't think Ivanka's motives are as pure as she thinks they are; and whatever impression I had about "Trump's good judgment" just took a big hit.
Trash talking the HFC in favor of the "Republican Agenda" (whatever the hell that is, we don't know until it's revealed) makes me view Trump as a typical Republican. And I don't like typical Republicans.
If Trump is going to attack true conservatives (his real base) then there will be no one left to support him.
Rush and/or Hannity need to tell Trump to back off.
Trump should be attacking the left, not the America loving patriots. This is very disappointing.
Note to Trump: Behind the Freedom Caucus, in the grass roots, are all the deplorables who elected you. Why do you insist on biting the hand that literally made your presidency, when you should be after Ryan and the GOP-RINO elite who tried to prevent your presidency.
I blame them all for failing to reach a consensus. Too much of the fight was in public and not behind closed doors. If the GOP cannot reach a consensus on moving Trump’s agenda forward, then there will be more such defeats emboldening the Dems. The prefect should not be the enemy of the good. The FC must show they can compromise as well as the RINOs and moderates who make up the majority of the party.
He needs to focus his anger on Ryan not FC
Ryan needs to move toward FC, not the other way around
>>I dont know how, in reality. I dont think it can be done.
>>In my fantasy, we start by handing almost everything except national defense and border regulation back to the states.
Me too. But, at least we recognize it as a fantasy. Reality is infinitely more messy. Health care is every president’s Tar Baby.
I'm REALLY pissed off Trump is publicly making the FC out to be his fricken enemy and blaming them for the stink bomb bill not passing. This makes me question his understanding of what exactly he promised: REPEAL & REPLACE - AND NOT TOP DOWN RUN GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE!!!
He's trying to rope-a-dope and neuter the FC and he wouldn't have won without them. Back stabbing the FC will only hurt him - especially when he has the ultimate back stabbing Ryan right under his nose.
I feel like he is targeting his own supporters. Why???
Youre joking, right? The FC personally handed Trump the biggest defeat of his presidency so far and embarrassed him badly in the process. Havent you been out of the conservative bubble at all since this debacle happened? The narrative prevalent is that Trump is a wounded president, whose entire agenda in office is already in danger of collapsing unfulfilled. The left has been celebrating like its the Fourth of July and Christmas rolled into one. Theyve gloated at what they consider to be their own victory over Trump, and they are making fun of him for claiming to be a great negotiator, while they say its now very obvious hes just an incompetent blowhard.
Regardless of what you think of the FC and how happy you are over the flawed Ryancare going down, you really cant see why Trump is upset over this? Really? I feel like a lot of people on FR have become disconnected from the rest of the country over this issue. Its fine to celebrate Ryans bill going down on its merits, but all this insistence that this wasnt a big blow to Trumps presidency, that we are going to get a much more conservative health care bill somehow passed through Congress now, and that the FC are his best friends after stringing him along without compromising is just bizarre. What Trump is doing is trying to put pressure on them, so he doesn’t have another disaster with his next big legislative projects that might be fatally crippling for his presidency.
I agree with every single word of your post.
A perfect summation of the situation.
Goodnight!
Your understanding of the FC is very close to zero.
“No he’s not. He’s goading them back to the negotiating table. “

Very, very disappointing. It appears he’s taking Arnold’s path and will probably end up with the same result.
I’d rather live with principled people. If you say you’re going to do something, then you blow it off, you can count on lodi90 to be there with you.
Separating talk (e.g. tweets) from action, I tend to pay less attention to the former. If, however, actions turn more against than for conservatistm, Trump will lose my support. Should he turn left and get in bed with the dems, . . . . . !
Agree completely. The Dems would never have done something similar. They eventually come in line with few or no defections. This is called using your governing majority. Instead, the Reps form a circular firing squad. It extends to so many other areas beyond healthcare. We have Graham and McCain going after Nunes and Trump. They provide the Dems and the MSM to ammunition to call the opposition to Trump bipartisan.
I expect Trump’s first year to be a lot of trial and error, and he learns who to trust, and not to trust. I’ll give him a pass for his first year, that’s to be expected with someone who has never held political office before.
“This attack on the FC is literally biting the hand that fed him the victory in November and if he continues with this madness we will deserve Hillary (or Warren or whoever) in 2020. Because Blue Collar Democrats and their populist agenda isnt going to save this country (if it even can be saved at this point Im not even sure of that)”
Speak for yourself.
You people try to play cute like you are the ones that won Penn, Mich, and Wiss all by your lonesome and just see how quickly this power trip vanishes.
6 months ago the HFC, and their big mouth fans were just sitting around shaking their fists while Obama told them to royally F-off.
You guys may want to turn over the government back over to those people, but the majority that voted for Trump are not interested in your drama act.
If someone goes it will likely be Bannon.
He’s vastly outnumbered in there.
