President Trump's funding request for a border wall will likely be put on hold, Senate Republican leaders signaled Tuesday.
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, announced at a leadership press conference that Trump's supplemental funding request will wait until later in the year.
He said the Senate and House leadership are very close to negotiating a bill to fund government for the rest of 2017.
Adding a supplemental spending bill requested by Trump to pay for military activities and a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border would complicate the talks and should be dealt with at a later date, Blunt added.
"We have the FY17 defense bill," Blunt said, noting it is the top priority of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and could be used as a vehicle to pass bills funding other federal departments.

No big deal. Trump can spend more money on ICE raids and interior enforcement. I have always thought that is best way to clean up the immigration mess.
Yep. People want the wall, and it’s a big reason he won the election. Republicans are pissing in the wind.
There is a simple way to pay for the wall. People crossing into U.S. from Mexico through ports have to purchase I-94 permit to travel beyond border area. Those permits cost $6, raise the price to $10 and use the money to build wall and increase border security. That would also shorten wait times at ports because it would be quicker to make change so people crossing would get something out of it as well.
Some funds were already appropriated years ago for a border fence.
Approximately 500 companies have bid on the project. This wall will happen. If we have to take to the streets, so be it.
This is a hill we should all be willing to die on.
Are you really an obnoxious piece of shit or do you just know how to act like one?
Bats!!d!
Oh look, the Cruzlims are back.
Guess what, Teddy still lost big time, and Trump has still accomplished more conservative change in 60 days than St. Ted of Calgary did over his entire life.
Allow me to rub your nose in it.
Deport all illegals, criminal or not. Pay for the wall with the savings from not paying for all the benefits they receive.
