Not enough horses for cavalry charges. That's awfully hard on the ponies anyway. It's enough if there's a few around for messengers or logistics runs.

Just so. But we at least have some excellent examples to follow. And some examples of colossal blunders to not repeat. And we have a motto:

There are so many of them! And our country is so small!
