WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, U.S. Senator and physician Rand Paul released the following statement after U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the American Health Care Act from a floor vote for the second day in a row:
I applaud House conservatives for keeping their word to the American people and standing up against Obamacare Lite, said Dr. Paul. I look forward to passing full repeal of Obamacare in the very near future.
Earlier this month, Dr. Paul introduced the Obamacare Repeal Act (S. 554), which is the same legislation, with an updated timeline, to repeal major components of Obamacare that an overwhelming Republican majority sent to President Obamas desk in January 2016.
You can read more about Dr. Pauls Obamacare Repeal Act HERE.
In January, Dr. Paul introduced the free-market based Obamacare Replacement Act (S. 222), which empowers Americans to: 1.) Choose inexpensive insurance free of government dictates; 2.) Save unlimited amounts in a health savings account (HSA) and have wider options for using those funds; 3.) Buy insurance across state lines; and 4.) Join together in voluntary associations to gain the leverage of being part of a large insurance pool.
You can find a one-page summary of Dr. Pauls Obamacare Replacement Act, which the House Freedom Caucus endorsed in February, HERE.
Better than that Veteran bashing bill Ryan wanted.
Why was this not done in January?
Because the GOP
1) hates Pres. Trump
2) hates Americans
3) loves RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE from which THEY are EXEMPT.
I’ll applaud him when his plan passes.
What a joke. Has any bill Rand Paul introducEd ever gone anywhere?
“Ill applaud him when his plan passes.”
If it doesn’t pass I look forward to the RNC ads hanging Obamacare around his neck.
Passing it is the responsibility of the others .... he's done his part.
What kind of diseased mind does it take to include Rand Paul in with that group of scoundrels and traitors?
Yeah, one day we won’t have to worry about the a holes. But I guarantee it won’t be on this side of eternity.
Well, well, well,...
What will be the excuses this time? This is ready-made legislation that once had the GOP stamp of approval. And far better than what was shot down yesterday.
Have it on the President’s desk by lunchtime on Monday.
“despite having control of the House, Senate, and Presidency.”
That won’t last. The democrats had all 3 in 1993, failed to pass healthcare reform and the Republicans swept into power in 1994.
Well I hope the purists are right. We are going to see.
Good list. Please allow me to add two more:
4) certain GOP cowards greatly fear the media backlash of "taking away" any entitlements from the Takers
5) Ryan and the GOP allowed this bill to be written by K Street lobbyists and the insurance industry (in fact, I believe former Speaker and present lobbyist John Boehner negotiated its authorship for Ryan, and Boehner got paid millions to do so)
These guys have been relentlessly campaigning against Obamacare since it came into force. The House Republicans have been showboating for so long that nobody remembers how to function. Whatever people think of Donald Trump, I don’t think there is a soul around who believes that he is going to just meekly slink back to the White House due to a “no” vote from the House.
The problem with buying insurance across state lines is the states themselves. Any insurance company dealing with the citizens of a state has to abide with the insurance regulations of that state. By the time these insurance companies comply with the state’s insurance regulations, they just about operate just like the other insurance companies working in that state. There is very little difference and, after the cost of the regulations is passed on to the rate payers, there is little that can be done to lower costs in my humble opinion.
Did Rand Paul lose in his bid to be our nominee?
Another grandstander and fraud who played his role. The check from the Koch Bros is on way, an ‘A’ grade from Con Job Review, and an atta boy from the Mark Levin as well... yada yada... Meanwhile nothing gets done and we’re stuck with Obamacare forever. The RINOs - Chamber Of Commerce weaseals will then play their role during the Immigration/Wall debate, then back to the Freedom Small Fries caucus to wail during the infrastructure debate. Rinse repeat.
Boehner says a full Obamacare repeal and replace is not going to happen
Boehner and other former member of Congress were hired and paid big bucks to author this piece of crap, because the insurance industry did not want to lose billions in "subsides."
Boehner joins DC lobbying firm
