Thank you so much for your hard work!
The research /history must be very time consuming!

Aw shucks, it’s just a labor of love. I learn a lot from this work. That monster essay on “Rhapsody in Blue” is a good example.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Ira Gershwin told George about “that jazz concerto” he was supposed to write for Whiteman.

Good evening/morning, Ma!
*HUG*
My honor and pleasure!
It’s been too cold for much melting, but there has been SOME!
The snow banks are not quite as high,
Muddy driveway in daytime, icy driveway at night!
*sigh*

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
GEORGE GERSHWIN
LADY, BE GOOD!
TONY BENNETT: FASCINATING RHYTHMTony recorded this song several times in his career, and this video from the Seventies captures Tony accompanied only by drummer Buddy Rich. Buddy and Gene Krupa pretty much wrote the book on jazz drumming.

I have always liked that song, but I never could figure out ‘why’.
I think sometimes we just like things and waste too much time on “why”.

LADY, BE GOOD!
ROSEMARY CLOONEY: FASCINATING RHYTHMRosemarys decade was the Fifties, but from 1979 to 1985 she returned to the music of the Great American Songbook. This features some great jazz sidemen backing her.
