Fox report: GOP investigators expect evidence showing Obama surveilled Trump team

Fox News reported Thursday that GOP congressional investigators are expecting to see evidence soon showing that the Obama administration surveilled President Trump's transition team.

An unnamed source told the news channel that the "smoking gun" evidence will be produced to the House Intelligence Committee this week.

The committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Wednesday announced to the press that he had seen intelligence reports showing that members of Trump's transition team were "incidentally" swept up in legal intelligence collection of foreign targets.

Nunes briefed the White House on what he had seen, but the documents or their source have not been made available to the rest of the committee. Capitol Hill sources told Fox News that the reports Nunes saw came from several sources.

Despite Nunes saying that he believes the incidental collection was legal, sources told Fox that the intelligence will show that the Obama administration used legitimate surveillance as a cover to spy on Trump.

In his Wednesday remarks to the press and in interviews since, Nunes has stressed his concerns about the so-called "unmasking," or identification, of U.S. citizens picked up in the intel collection. He said the reports were circulated widely through the intelligence community.

Sources told Fox that the unmasking of U.S. individuals was aimed at harming the new administration.

Trump claimed in early March that President Obama had wiretapped him in Trump Tower during the campaign. He said this week he felt "somewhat vindicated" by Nunes's announcement, although the chairman maintained there is no evidence that Obama had Trump's "wires tapped." Nunes said the intel he had seen was collected after the collection and was not related to Russia.

Fox reported that the NSA is expected to hand in documents to the House Intelligence Committee Friday.

Obama is teflon. Due to his status as first black potus, and a corrupt leftwing media, he knows he can skate from anything. It would be nice to nail one of his underbosses though - Lynch, Rhodes, Jarrett... I’d take joy with anyone going to prison.

But I don’t think anything will come of it. Dems always walk free due to the incompetence of the spineless GOP. Dems and media will make some kind of a trade to stop bringing up Russia in return for “moving on.” Or something like that.

I believe she needs to be hired to work with Catherine Herridge or to be the investigative ace for almost anything. When I watched Beck, she came into the mix there and was always superb. Glad to see she landed on her feet. Hasnnity is really giving her and John lots of air time.

So Clapper and Lynch signed orders for raw surveillance products to be shared by the NSA with 16 other investigative agencies — with a week or two left in Obama’s term. The timing was a mystery — if this practice was critically important to national security, why did Obama wait EIGHT YEARS to get around to it?

The timing makes perfect sense if it was a clean-up operation, providing cover and immunity from prosecution for what the Obama administration/Democrats had ALREADY BEEN DOING illegally, against Trump and who knows what other political enemies. This is circumstantial evidence that this was not just something the lower level Dems were doing. It went right to the top.

I don’t know the answer to this, so just asking. Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation. Nunes said what he found had absolutely nothing to do with Russia. If that’s the case, then can’t Sessions involve himself in these latest revelations? Sessions is Comey’s boss and Nunes said the NSA had provided what he asked for but that the FBI had not - seems to me that Sessions could and should order that the documentation, etc. in Nunes’ letter be complied with immediately.

As an aside, I’m concerned about McCabe still being #2 in the FBI. As you will recall, his wife got a lot of $$$s from McAwful (and IIRC Clinton) for her run as a state senator in VA. Thankfully, she lost.

Been reading on several threads here, that Comey is slow walking the info request by Nunes. Suspicions are it's because he's involved.

Also there is speculation from some articles that the FISA warrant that caused the incidental capturing of Trump's transition team may have been for surveillance on Israel.

Don't forget that Mike Rogers went to see DJT at Trump Tower during the transition. I'm not so sure Mike is a black hat...I think he's going to be Comey, Brennam, Clapper and company's undoing. I've been wondering for a while if Rogers wasn't being set up as the fall guy for all of this as head of NSA but I think he's made some countermoves here to ensure the others get the blame they justly deserve IMHO.

one thing I'm certain of for sure, there is sooo much more here we don't know yet.

Very good points you make and questions. I believe the media and their masters have done such a good job of creating so much chaos and confusion the public has no idea what is going on. Only the fact that Obama didn’t tap Trumps phones. What’s sad is we have a public so utterly ignorant and dumb they don’t stop to say, hey wait a minute, so upper levels of our Government had opposition campaign spied upon and investigated during the campaign!? If this doesn’t send shutters through people and wake them up then I’m sorry this country deserves to collapse hard on its face and take as many ignorant know nothings along with it

Are you suggesting Putin's gone all transgender on us?

No.

Merely pointing out that the article was written by someone with a very obviously 'russian' sounding name.

No, my original comment was stupid, I actually misread something, but even still wasn’t challenging your post or motive ...
