President Trump delivered an ultimatum to House Republicans on Thursday night: Vote to approve the measure to overhaul the nations health-care system on the House floor Friday, or reject it and the president will move on to his other legislative priorities.
The president signaled that the time for negotiations was over with rank-and-file Republicans who were meeting late at night on Capitol Hill to try to find common ground on the embattled package crafted by House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.).
The move was a high-risk gamble for the president and speaker, who have both invested significant political capital in passing legislation that would rewrite the 2010 Affordable Care Act. For Trump, who campaigned as a skilled negotiator capable of forging a good deal on behalf of Americans, it could either vindicate or undercut one of his signature claims. If the measure fails, it would mean that Obamacare something that congressional Republicans have railed against for seven years would remain in place.
Disastrous #Obamacare has led to higher costs & fewer options. It will only continue to get worse! We must #RepealANDReplace. #PassTheBill, Trump tweeted from his official White House account as the meeting was wrapping up Thursday night.

Thats like me telling my kids, I want the living room to look better and then coming back to find rainbows drawn on the walls in crayon.
If that were to happen, he could use his veto pen and undo everything with one stroke.
Repealing Obamacare should have been a layup for the GOP. Instead, Ryan throws up a 75 ft. triple bank shot turd.
I hope President Trump learned a lesson. Republicans in DC don’t know how to lead or how to win.
Trump was really stupid to try to do healthcare like this.
He already turned on the Freedom Caucus. That tweet about them being for PP was disgusting.
That’s where I’m lost. Trump is aligned against Conservatives on a bill that actually makes Obamacare WORSE.....
And I’m supposed to stand with Trump?
Or since he’s the President and his party controls Congress, he could - like - give some freaking direction.
Or does he believe in “leading from behind” too?
Fox Business News is reporting that the bill has been pulled. What a complete, utter disgrace. Epic fail.
Yep, just heard bill postponed.
My point of view has many benefits for Trump, such as being able to:
Not lift one finger on this issue, for the moment, and focus on other things. While he watches the fight, he learns what are the real positions of the different players. He could simply join the process more closely later. He could do tax reform immediately after this fails, sign that, and then come back to health care.
Well they just pulled the bill. If he walks away as he says, instead of simply Repeal, Trump is done.
How about the infrastructure bill? At least 2 major concrete bridges in my area are crumbling, and the roads are an absolute mess in spite of a mild, little snow winter.
Unless I totally misunderstand how this works, I don’t think you can do tax reform with Obamacare still on the books, because you lose the ability to declare the cuts revenue neutral. I think.
And none of this matters, because the next fight is going to be on the debt limit simply by a matter of the calendar.
Now that Trump and the Freedom Caucus have come to blows, how to do you think that is going to play out?
I think if you are conservative, this is a perilous moment. Trump’s entire reason for being is winning. The bill he personally backed couldn’t even get to the floor because it was such a loser.
He needs a win.
And he can get two easy ones with the help of.....the Democrats!!!
Immigration reform and infrastructure bill...come on down!!!
Forgot to include this link at my comment #311.
“And none of this matters, because the next fight is going to be on the debt limit simply by a matter of the calendar.”
The debt-ceiling fight is a win or win situation from a conservative point of view.
If the debt ceiling is raised, Trump wins and has political capital for his program.
If the debt ceiling is not raised, that’s even better because the government is forced to cut spending.
So Conservatives win if Trump’s first major piece of legislation is a Trillion Dollar spending bill?
By the way, Trump has already stated that the next time he tackles healthcare, he’s reaching out to the Dems.
I stand by everything I said. This disaster has just made Nancy Pelosi the second most powerful person in DC.
Ryan cannot give Trump “wins” and she can.
“Trump has already stated that the next time he tackles healthcare, hes reaching out to the Dems.”
That’s just bargaining.
“Repeal of free trade deals”
We do not have any free trade deals.
Not one.
We have agreements that involve other countries giving it to us up the poop chute and walking away with our money, and nothing else.
Nothing else.
Every agreement we have should be repudiated immediately.
With whom? For what?
What in the name of all that is holy is Trump seeking here?
And don’t say full repeal because he did not run on full repeal. He ran on repeal and replace and the Repubs have nothin’ to replace it with.
The Dems probably have 40 bills ready to go that will get 100 percent support in their caucus.
And all of them probably have the words “public option” in them.
I honestly believe right now that the Dems are closer to a public option in Obamacare than they ever were under Obama.
All the more reason for Pelosi to go along with him and suck up to the unions that abandoned the Democrats last time.
