Disaster? No - it’s still better than Obamacare and a decent start. But if this doesn’t pass, it probably prevents tax reform and regulatory reform as well. Best chance is to pass this, move on to tax and regulatory reform and then revisit this bill after Republicans pick up more Senate seats in 2018.

Wow, you just stated why we the American public always wind up the losers. We vote the GOP in with "we'll repeal and replace" and then it's not enough of a win to do it. I don't blame Trump one bit for this - this is the sole ownership of congress. 7 years of moaning, speeches, and every other complaint and nothing to show for it but a typical Washington, screw the public, band-aid.

And you're for it?

This bill or a straight up repeal both have a ton of issues. The system we had before Obamacare was terrible too - maybe you forgot that fed health spending went up 8.5% annually from 1998 to 2009 and was on track to bankrupt the fed gov. This bill is marginally better than ACA and a full repeal isn’t going to happen with the narrow senate and is only marginally better than this bill. Tax reform and regulatory reform can get done though but only once ACA is repealed. Also keep in mind once ACA is repealed, future changes will get dem votes too
