American citizens on the Trump transition team were monitored, surveilled and unmasked by the intelligence community during the previous Obama administration. Although the monitoring was legal, it was certainly inappropriate. Information collected on these individuals was then widely disseminated, despite being irrelevant to ongoing investigations into Russia.

Is it legal? I think not.

The issue is whether there was probable cause to conduct surveillance on American citizens (or a presidential candidate).

Probable cause is defined as the reasonable likelihood that a crime is or has been committed by the person or at the place being surveiled.

Exactly. Where was the probable cause for the surveillance on the citizens that were bugged? Sure looks like a fishing expedition at this point.

Everything you need to know about phone taps. Posted by Vendome.

There is absolutely law that authorizes every method of gathering communications, we have arrived here through legislation. The only apparent crime was the unmasking of private citizens.
