Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes revealed a number of American citizens who worked on the Trump transition team were monitored, surveilled and unmasked by the intelligence community during the previous Obama administration. Although the monitoring was legal, it was certainly inappropriate. Information collected on these individuals was then widely disseminated, despite being irrelevant to ongoing investigations into Russia.

Nunes revelation comes three weeks after President Trump claimed President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower. There hasn't been any evidence of wiretapping, but the White House argues Trump was referring to overall surveillance of his campaign, not specifically wiretapping. Nunes will brief President Trump about his findings this afternoon.

Not quite... the emerging narrative now seems to be that Trump's people were all so crooked that they were all being investigated, and to make things worse Trump is now interfering in an ongoing investigation.
It was a bad move to have caved on Flynn. Pence should have sucked it up and accepted Flynn’s apology and moved on. You give communists an inch and they will take a foot. Preident Trump should order Comey to wrap up the fake Russian investigation by a deadline and fire him regardless of what conclusion he may come to.

Nunez said it was a legal wire tap during Nov, Dec, and Jan. If it was legal there must have been a FISA order which means everyone had access to the order and yet they all lied about it last Monday. Including Nunes, Comey, and Rogers. Why would they lie knowing that they would be discovered. Also, looks like a whistle blower gave the info to Nunes. If it was legal wire tap, why did it require a whistleblower? Makes no sense.

Nunes’ announcement strikes me as a bombshell. First, it validates Trump’s claim. Second, it contradicts Comey. Third, it confirms that their was both unmasking and dissemination - both potential violations. Fourth, and most important - this collection had nothing to do with Trump-Russia.
There is no smoking gun that shoots Trump. But the “incidental collection” of “significant information” on Trump during the transition - that’s explosive.
Was it "legal" if Obama/Comey/Lynch obtained FISA warrants under false pretext? How can Nunes make that leap so early into this?

Under the 4th amendment, NO, it was not legal. It was domestic spying which is not legal. We cannot easily stop them from their Stasi activities.
But we should never grant them the cover of saying their police state monitoring that exceeds east Germany in scope is “legal”.

Note how the media PARSES this. Trump needs to prove according to them, that 1. Trump Tower was wiretapped, 2 That it was DJT personally who was tapped & 3. that Obama (personally) did the tapping.
For POTUS to be not guilty of a lie and a baseless charge, he must prove all three above. Otherwise he will be branded as a liar now and forever a million times over in the MSM, Hollywood and academia.
