Rand Paul: ‘Easily 35 No Votes’ Against Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0, ‘I Would Predict They Pull Bill"
Breitbart ^ | 03/21/17 | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 03/21/2017 4:52:39 PM PDT by Enlightened1

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News exclusively on Tuesday afternoon that he expects House Speaker Paul Ryan will be forced to pull the American Health Care Act (AHCA) before a scheduled Thursday vote because Ryan will not get the votes to pass the legislation. The AHCA has been dubbed “Obamacare Lite” by Paul — a leading conservative critic of the plan — and by other conservatives as “RyanCare,” “RINO-Care,” and “Obamacare 2.0,” since the bill does not actually fully repeal Obamacare and keeps many of the main structures that the now-former President Barack Obama installed in the healthcare system. It has come under intense scrutiny from both sides of the Republican Party — moderates and conservatives are lining up against the bill — and Ryan, despite publicly projecting confidence, cannot find the necessary 216 votes to pass the legislation.

Paul, one of the leading senators out of more than a dozen Republicans in the upper chamber criticizing the bill there, told Breitbart News in this exclusive interview he believes there are at least 35 House Republicans ready to vote against the bill in its current form. And he predicted that, unless some major changes come to the legislation between now and the scheduled vote on Thursday, Ryan will need to withdraw the bill and Republicans will have to start from scratch with a new bill and a new strategy on Obamacare.

Paul said in the in-person interview at his U.S. Senate office in the Russell Senate Office Building:

>>>When did REPEAL OBAMACARE become “repeal and REPLACE”? I’m SICK of hearing this “repeal and replace”

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump on Wednesday offered a glimpse into his presidential platform on healthcare, saying he would replace ObamaCare with “something terrific.” - July 29, 2015

There was a good conversation about this three prong approach, on FoxBiz Charles Payne’s show, tonight.

I transcribed (best I could) what guests Tammy
Bruce and Rich Lowry said about it, here....

I’m beginning to think we need some sort of rule that people who run for president and lose, need to shut their traps for at least 6 months after the election.

?????

If you’re talking about Rand Paul, he happens to be a sitting Senator.

How open minded of you, though. /s

You might get a fuller picture by reading more than a glimpse. Lets say its neither single payer nor Gv’t run care but instead it embraces privatization.

the FEDERAL mandates ... which doesn't change in the Ryan bill.

Not in the defunding bill, but the federal mandates go away when Congress returns control to the states.

I am glad that others are speaking out & bringing attention to this aspect. It’s a pig in a poke and the black hats will find it very easy to obstruct, derail and add things so that the final product is worse than ever for America.

I believe in sunshine, straightforward, simple, short and no payoffs to sweeten the deal. The congress has given us no reason to trust it and no amount of promises are going to melt this stony heart.

But he was one of the few candidates that actually honored his pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee.

I think a market premium at age 50 for Medicare would be a great solution. More revenue shoring up Medicare, and the more expensive population out of the private insurance population.

Anything is better than what we have now.

We need bills more rapid fire. This is 2017 and I would think they could be passing bills a little faster than this. Why not do more than one thing every month. Lets get the goverment on the agile system.

That’s a big yes. We have Gone Galt and are no longer supporting the fascist beast. It’s a wonderful feeling when stuff like this happens.

I thought the primaries killed the Republican party. I thought Cruz lost to Trump and he and many of the GOP would not support him. Soo Trump is not conservitive. He is a Penn,Mich,Ohio and Wisc republican. Does this bill not go as far as conservitives. What happens if a few dems vote for it.

I would like to see more cross aisle bills myself.

I don't care if he's the king of Siam. I do care he's acting like one. Trump has said he is willing to work with anyone on this bill, including Paul. And every time we turn around, there Paul is, yapping into the microphone like a knowitall. If he has something to say, Trump's door is open and he knows it. Get in there, say it face to face, roll up the shirtsleeves and work it out so we can get this bill on the floor in a filibuster proof form. We get enough drama queen sabotage from the left, we don't need more help.
