I can grow popcorn? That’s neat. So it’s a different variety than regular corn?

How hard is it to harvest the wheat without a machine? I would love to grow it myself. I grind wheat berries for flour, so might as well go one step further. Or one step prior…

Using the same methods as our ancestors fairly easy but time consuming.

Go on line for popcorn seed. A quarter lb will give you plenty for a family. If it’s hybred you don’t have to pollenate the tassels There are NO hybrid corn except Indian corn and a few popcorn. All others have been cross pollinated and can not be grown by last year kernel/seed

Wheat is just a grass. Harvest is done in sheaves when dry the berries fall out if you use a large blanket toss in air. The shaft will blow away. There are other methods but not as fun
If you can get RUSSIAN RED wheat seed it is a heritage seed and you can keep seed from year to year Try not to get a hybrid.
Foxfire books have lots of information. So does the Internet.

Here are a couple of sites
For wheat

This is the same popcorn that Orville plants
High yield. If you don’t pop much a packet will do
We used to put an ear in a paper bag in micro and let it pop off so you don’t have to shell it
