That’s what I’d like to know. I paid for my kids when I had them, why do I know have to pay for everybody else’s? Why do I have to pay for other people’s drug addictions? They can just offer policies that cover those things if people need them, and I can pay for things that I now need that I’m getting older.
That would be great - there should be a basic policy, covering exams, cancer, heart, neurological issues, things we can’t predict. Then a supplemental fee for any add-ins, like maternity, mental health, etc. Like house insurance works.
Because other insured are paying for coverages that you do use, but they don't. It "brings down" your premium for those coverages from what it would have been.
The two most expensive of those coverage mandates are mental health, and chiropractic care.
Prescription coverage isn't really insurance if you have a chronic medication. It's just an added on cost for a known expense.
