We escaped Mexifornia but I researched carefully and went to the most conservative area I could find that we could afford. That was near the mountains. And had good weather. And wasn’t ever likely to be invaded by liberals or illegals. Maybe our mindset was different then the people you’re talking about.
One thing I totally loved after living here was people unabashedly asked where did I go to church and how did I vote. When I answered correctly I got hugs ;)
