In my opinion Trump, and the Republicans, are wrong about a few things.
If our immigration laws were enforced across the board there would be no need for a wall. And take away the not really stated anywhere part where any birth here is a citizen. Yeah, I know that’s an uphill battle but it’s the right way to go.
Health insurance. Not their job.
If he has said these things please point me in that direction.
We wouldn't need a wall at all if we just enforced our damn immigration laws and ended birthright citizenship.

It certainly beats two rows of barbed wire. Even cattle laugh at that. 30 feet gets pretty high when you’re at the top of the wall looking down...trying to figure out how to get down, trying to figure out how to get across the next barrier (it will be double-fenced), and then trying to figure out how to do all that before the feds sweep you up, since the sensors on top of the wall tell them where you are.
Or another way to look at it - ask the Palestinians, people that have a MUCH GREATER INCENTIVE to breach their wall (of similar height), since it means Jihad and killing of Jews...yet they’re stuck on their side.
As others have noted, a wall is simply a FORCE MULTIPLIER...makes it much easier for the feds to round up the ones thinking they can cross...and funnels them together.
Then there are the tunnels deep underground, fall below the few feet the wall penetrates - ask the Israelis about the Hamas tunnels ...

Never mind aesthetics - the wall needs to have towers or other provisions for sentries at regular intervals, and all funding for DHS must include a budget for wall sentries. An unmanned wall will simply be dug through or dug under.
They better have that wall deep enough to stop the many tunnels that go from Mexico and San Diego among other places as well. I am sure Trump has a handle on all the possibilities of screwing up the wall by idiots.

Yes ICE does need to step up illegal labor enforcement and welfare abuse enforcement.
I haven’t heard anything about Trump addressing these things.
He doesn’t have control of what states do. He is trying to address the sanctuary city problem but of course getting push back. As far as taking benefits from illegals, Congress needs to pass something or at least individual states need to and of course be ready for the judges to tear it all down.
You state the precise reason why we need an apolitical wall. Takes the politics out of the equation. It isn't a cure all but it is a start.

We’re the USA - we can do at least a 40 foot high wall!
