From statistics I have seen, Turks in Turkey are having children at near Western European rates - which means they also are peering over a demographic cliff.
The likes of Erdogan are concerned, because the Kurds, on the other hand, are having the 5 children that he wants Turks to have.
It means that in a few decades, potentially Kurds will outnumber ethnic Turks.
Perhaps Erdogan is simply peddling his wishes for his own country.
