Donald Trump took on Sen. John McCain's status as a war hero and won the GOP nomination anyway.
Spicer took an extraordinary position Wednesday, saying anyone who questioned the success of the raid in Yemen that led to the death of a Navy SEAL was doing a disservice to the SEAL's memory. The target was McCain.

McCain is no hero. He did nothing to save the lives of others, he performed no feat to turn the tide of a battle by risking his own life, he did nothing that true heroes are known for.
But he has never failed to play up his victim status into an embellished ‘hero’ story.
As President Trump has said, the Yemen mission was a great success because of the extensive and valuable intelligence that was uncovered. McCain seems to conveniently forget that detail when he misleads by saying the mission was a failure.
Gallup doesn't have the nads to take that poll now in 2017...
I have no doubt that Benedict Arnold, Washington’s greatest general, offered a similar defense for his treason against his fledgling nation. McCain’s suffering is worthy of respect, but is not broad license for the rest of his life. As every securities advertisement warns, “Past performance does not guarantee future results.”
If there is a McLame scandal in the works I hope it breaks in the next week. At this point I don’t even care what it is. My first choice would be bribery by the Iranians, second would be that the Russians paid him and third would be pedogate.
McCain, not Spicer nor Trump, was the one who called the Yemen raid a failure and then had to backtrack. This article makes no sense except as a fake indignation story. He only brutally told himself off.

re: RVN prison camp raid. We sent Bull Simon and a bunch of Snake Eaters to raid Son Tay, nowhere near were you were. It was a clusterfluck because of faulty intel.
re: President Trump. John, Shut up, go stand in line somewhere. No one diminishes your service, but being a POW does not make you an expert, or anything else, on current world activities, especially things military.

Ann Coulter nailed it. These people like McCain, John Lewis, Gabby Gifford, etc come out as attack digs but then hide behind their victim/hero status when called out.
If he was that bad the primary voters would have taken him out.
