Forget about open borders and the gangs that flood in and engage in open warfare. Forget about the hateful rhetoric of Black Lives Matter and the White House visit that honored those cries of hatred. And pay no attention to the ACLU and Justice Department's halting of most stop-and-frisk action by the Chicago Police Department.
Nope, the reason Chicago is so violent is social media!
Dave Workman reports for Conservative Firing Line:
When Zachary Fardon resigned as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, he apparently did not do it as "abruptly" as reported by the Chicago Tribune, because he took time to write a five-page analysis of the city's violence problem and he blames social media for driving it.
"Today's gun violence is driven by social media," Fardon wrote in an open letter that was published by the Tribune online. "And a corollary of that is that gun violence has become like a virus. One taunt through Instagram leads to a shooting, which leads to bragging on snapchat or Facebook, which leads to a retaliation shooting, and then the cycle repeats. The virus spreads."

I’d go back to LBJ’s Great Society demolishing the church-going black nuclear family. Paying single mothers to have babies created a perverse incentive...now who would have thought of that in advance?? Like Rush says, when you pay somebody for something, you get more of it. Totally unexpected.
I’ve got an 18 year old boy and a 21 year old girl. You wold be surprised at how many fights are started that originated over something stupid said or sent on social media. These kids won’t say anything to someone’s face but boy they will send it out on social media and then the message is viewed by everyone and the person who has been “dissed” feels compelled to react and the situations just escalate until there is a physical altercation.
It’s not ‘gun violence’. It’s ‘thug violence’.
Sadly, we read about this foolishness each and every day.
How about the one about how Chicago, being close to Indiana, suffers because Indiana has laxer gun laws than Illinois????
I hear that crap all the time. Frustrating how stupid they are.
Does he even have a clue how many decades this has been going on for?
Of course it has been going on, but social media can exacerbate situations and serves as an alternate form of communication. Not always for the good. I think this guy has a point.
With that brain power it is good this idiot is leaving. Wish someone would ask him the question: if social media is to blame, then why doesn’t every city have the murder rate of Chicago since social media is in every city.
Because not every city has an entrenched “gangsta culture” like Chicago.
I agree he has a point.
He’s right!
I’m cool with arresting the owners of Fakebook, etc and shutting down the apps.
Let them morons and terrorists find another way to communicate and wreak havoc.
I’ve had a couple calls responding to fights caused by insulting posts on Instagram and the like. Idiots.
Chicago values never change:

[[Nope, the reason Chicago is so violent is social media!]]
Yeah because gang members are known to sit around between drive by shootings and browse the Internet looking for posts to get pissed off about- Cripes!
He does have a point...at the top of his head, because he's a pinhead. :-)
Happy St. Paddy's day everyone.
I’ll raise you one; how do you spell Malcolm X’s last name?
I’ve lived in the Chicago area for 45 years. For 25 of those years I’ve been in outside sales. I’ve been in every single neighborhood in Chicago and every suburb from Zion to South Chicago Heights, to DeKalb, Dixon, and all the way east to Gary.
I’ve done business with just about every ethnic and religious group you can name. So I know what I’m talking about.
The “problem” in Chicago is wholly owned by the Democrat Party. For almost a century the gangs were a subsidiary of said Democrat Party. They were, and I stress were, the “enforcement arm”. They got out the vote. They ran polling places. They paid off cops, Feds, alderman, mayors, inspectors, anyone you can imagine.
In return they got to run the “rackets”. Pick a racket, any racket, and they got to run it. Numbers, prostitution, protection, drugs, guns, stolen goods, whatever. In Chicago you can’t buy a f****** head of lettuce that some gang doesn’t get a cut from.
The deal was that “honest” citizens, read “sheep”, got sheared a bit. But they never really got hurt. In return the sheep got the “city that worked.” That was the unspoken bargain. A Faustian one to be sure, but it was a bargain nonetheless.
And for quite a while it worked.
Then that all broke down about 20 years ago. And, once again, government was responsible. Jeff Fort and the El Rukn crew decided they didn’t want to play ball anymore. So the locals and the Feds decided to teach them a lesson about who was really in charge. The large, well organized gangs were smashed by relentless prosecution.
All the adults were sentenced to long prison sentences or killed while “resisting”. This is Chicago after all.
Combine this with the Democrat Party policy of ruthlessly destroying the black family unit and you have dozens and dozens of small gangs fighting over the remnants of the spoils. Only there are no adult males left to enforce the old “no kids, no wives, no real people” rules.
The results are splashed all over the front pages of what’s left of the newspapers and the blood runs ankle deep in the streets every single day.

Social media may be the cause. And don’t forget the telephone - most folks who use them keep hearing voices.....
I read on Second City Cop that he also blasted the ACLU because of the requirement that every stop in include filling out a long form of questions that would be copied to the ACLU. This is where the trouble really started. It was the culture shift demanded by the ACLU that forced the police to disengage.
