More German than Swedish in MN. Almost 4 times as many Minnesotans trace their ancestry to Germany than to Sweden. Sweden even falls behind the the Norwegians and the Irish.

Probably more Swedes and Norwegians in Minnesota than any other state though, so they do probably have more effect on the Minnesota culture than any other state.
My mom is from MN, and I lived there a couple of times when my dad was deployed overseas. This is just Minnesota trying to ignore the outside world. When I lived there, 99% were white, if you exclude the residents of the rez, and most, like me, were of Northern European descent. People were nice, and others were nice to you, as it was expected. However, except for military types and the odd businessman, people didn’t travel outside the US, and most didn’t go outside the upper Midwest. It just doesn’t occur to people there that people from some other cultures can be lazy and mean and don’t care what you think about that. The new generation, and not their parents in power now, are figuring this out, but it will be too late I fear.
