Swedes have largely adopted a posture of passive reliance on govern ment, which they tend to see as a body of people smarter than they are, and who will take care of them. Like parents will take care of children. Many resist anything which rattles this comfortable world view. Government's failure to protect them from savage aliens will have a traumatic effect on the people when it sinks in.

My mother was of Scandinavian descent, so I had a big chunk of such folk as relatives. I noticed a tendency towards conformity with the notion of going along to get along, an excessively stolid, long enduring patience, and a point at which abuse could no longer be ignored and they they would go to total war footing.
