Beside this being a stab at a, so far, "bloodless coup", it THE WORST stab at dissolving this nation and EVERYTHING that made America, AMERICA ! Obama said that he wanted to completely change this nation. He meant DESTROY and he did a pretty "good" job of it; the Clintons too!
Our side won ONE battle ( though we lost a whole lot of skirmishes and still are ) and you are blithely unaware of the fact that this WAR is still ragging and shall for a very long time to come.

Nothing, absolutely NOTHING like this has EVER happened in America, ever before...even though there have been nasty, vile primary and election seasons before; once a president was elected, "normal" life continued. THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT THESE TIMES!
None of us are saying that this is "normal". What we are saying is that the "normal" you cite wasn't very healthy.
The liberals in the media would lay low and carp at the president from the sidelines. Now they plant themselves on center stage and make an excellent target of themselves.
A lot of the reason things looked "normal" was that the GOP president; i.e., a Bush, wasn't doing anything that bothered the liberals in the press.

An example is the abject failure of the GOP to defend Nixon when the coupe was staged against him. The Watergate was nothing compared to intercepting a political party’s clandestine messages. That was one of the Team’s greatest victory. Nixon had won a crushing electoral victory and he was maneuvered out of office by the same institutions after Trump.
