“Idiots who buy a phone without a removable battery are inviting this.”

Whoa, hold on there pardner, I’m one of those millions of people you’re classifying as “idiot”. As a previous poster mentioned, a phone (or other device) can easily be placed in a faraday cage to block all signal. This can be accomplished as easily as placing the device in a microwave oven (no joke), wrapping it in foil, using an old potato chip bag, or buy purchasing and using one of many of the very affordable bags designed for just this purpose.

Some of the first faraday cages for phones and other small computer devices were originally designed to thwart hackers seeking financial and credit card data they would steal just by getting close enough to the targeted device in a public place, using a compact, wireless, hacking tool to retrieve the info in a matter of seconds. People concerned about becoming victims of such found it much quicker and easier and faster to just place their smartphones in a faraday bag rather than having to go through removal of the battery and the whole start up process.

Carry your faraday cage around while tethered to a groundstake do you?
