Before heading off to his so-called "winter White House" in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday, President Donald Trump summoned some of his senior staff to the Oval Office and went "ballistic," senior White House sources told ABC News.
The president erupted with anger over the latest slew of news reports connecting Russia with the new administration -- specifically the abrupt decision by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.
Sources said the president felt Sessions' recusal was unnecessary and only served to embolden Trump's political opponents. The attorney general made his announcement Thursday just as Trump returned to Washington from a trip to the U.S.S. Gerald Ford in Virginia for a speech about his agenda as president.
Hours earlier, aboard the ship, the president had told reporters that he had "total" confidence in Sessions and saw no reason why the attorney general should recuse himself.
We should have had a good week. We should have had a good weekend. But once again, back to Russia," a senior White House official said, expressing the frustration simmering in the West Wing following the news earlier in the week that Sessions failed to disclose during his confirmation process that he had met with the Russian ambassador twice during the election campaign. Sessions at the time was a senator on the Armed Services Committee and was also helping the Trump campaign.
Among those gathered in the Oval Office on Friday: Chief of staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, White House Counsel Don McGahn, press secretary Sean Spicer, newly-hired Communications Director Mike Dubke, along with Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump, the sources said.

“<<< Obama had the Oval Office renovated after the election. Ive been saying for months that he had the Oval Office wired with bugs. >>>
Obama installed an entire new computer and phone system in the WH sometime last year.

And what happened to the old gear?
0 took it with him.
Worse than what illary did with the silverware, etc.
That new system probably has more backdoors in it than you can shake a fist at....
Good luck getting everyone to abandon their phones and pads.
He's not a wartime consigliere, we need Rudy!
A scandal and an unelected POTUS who is there thru succession=2020 to the donks, loss of the House and a close Senate full of GOPe.
Can Sessions "rescind" his "recusal?"

“Go back and listen to his statement again. Two things jumped out at me:
1. He recused himself from any current or future investigation of Russia’s role in U.S. elections.
2. He also clearly stated that Justice Department protocols precluded him from even saying whether or not there is an ongoing investigation.
I put these two statements together and made the following determination:
There probably won’t be an investigation of any substance at all, and the one guy who never has to explain why this is the case is Jeff Sessions.”
I see differently.
1) he backed out of the ‘Russians messed with the election’, not anything else; this leaves him free to go after lowlife leakers of classified info, pizza pervs, etc.
2) no prosecutor is gonna say what he’s gonna do or not do, ahead of the perps being caught, charged, and no-bailed.
True.
“I just read this statement again, and I suddenly have a whole different perspective on it:
“We should have had a good week. We should have had a good weekend. But once again, back to Russia,” a senior White House official said, expressing the frustration simmering in the West Wing following the news earlier in the week that Sessions failed to disclose during his confirmation process that he had met with the Russian ambassador twice during the election campaign.
If what I suspect is true, then we should all be laughing our @sses off right now. I’ll keep my eye on the news over the coming days and follow up with a detailed explanation if and when the time is right. LOL.”
That “senior white house official” is either a leaker or someone in the media.
Yep. Really kid.
He didn’t recuse himself from everything, just investigating possible Russian involvement in the election.

The attack on Sessions is a CNN operation.
The day prior to Sessions confirmation hearing CNN began hyping a Buzzfeed article which alluded to long known unsubstantiated allegations. After being advertised for hours by CNN Buzzfeed finally published a dossier containing the allegations. CNN began reporting on the dossier. During the confirmation hearing Franken references CNNs breaking report of this dossier. Then when reporting on the confirmation hearing CNN edits out most of Frankens question. This makes it appear that there was a different question asked than what Franken actually asked, thus giving the appearance of an insufficient/inaccurate answer by Sessions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otYVn2bW17g
CNN drove the Buzzfeed garbage to prominent attention. This created the dynamics necessary to generate exploitable situations. Frankens question is such a situation and CNNs dishonest editing is the exploit.
The entire thing was generated by CNN.
This is one battle in the attack on Trump by CNN/WaPo/NYT/DNC.
CNN is beyond fake, they’re garbage.
Exfiled intel and stolen gov equipment
I think it is. I found it strange how there is remodeling going on in the WH the last this past year. Bugs buried so deep every where, including the living quarters and probably the war room as well.
Bugs buried so deep
Sadly, I agree with you. Paul Ryan too.
Sessions made them think they got something.
All this remodeling took place after the election. I wouldn’t put anything past Clapper and Brennan.

Craven Republicans, looking for a pat on the head from the mainstream media, can always be counted on to echo its idiotic demands. The phony controversy over the Trump campaigns imaginary ties to Putin is the latest pitiful example of this phenomenon.
Instead of exposing the hyper-partisanship behind this media obsession, these Republicans are humoring it. We hear from them craven calls for a special prosecutor to investigate and demands that attorney general Jeff Sessions submit to one because he had, in his capacity as a senator, a grand total of two unimportant encounters with the Russian ambassador. How shocking. Who knew that senators and ambassadors from major countries with whom we have diplomatic relations interact? Extraordinary.
To the hyperventilating twits on Morning Joe, Ted Cruz made the obvious point: What we are seeing is a lot of political theater. This morning, everyone is in high dudgeon about the meeting. The underlying meeting is a nothing burger. Its what senators do every day. Meeting with foreign ambassadors, thats part of the job. I think everyone is getting all worked up because its a chance to beat up the attorney general and to beat up the president.
The media coverage of this nontroversy has been nothing short of Kafkaesque, with heavy-breathing headlines about Sessions failing to disclose his meetings with the ambassador. . .
